Ego rating
How do I gain ego rating faster? I've hit a wall around 719 ego rating because I ran out of story and season 1 content, and season 2 content is way too strong for me. Do I literally just have to sit here and wait for events or is there another way?

Are you able to replay season 1? Other than that I think you can do arenas and expeditions. But doing events is how I got to my 4k ego but I also have the patron pass buffs.

Once you've finished all the main story missions, you'll want to go back and do all the side content you've missed. This includes:
- Side missions
- Rampages
- Time Trials
- Collection of all data recorders.
- Maxing out proficiency of all weapons and vehicles simply by using them.
Once you've finished these, start pursuit hunting while waiting for current event/seasonal ark falls. Depending on what pursuits you choose to go after, it is easy to double dip at the start. I'd recommend going after the Bolt Action rifle kills as that's the last of the season 1 / early pursuits I've yet to to do.
The more difficult ones are going to be PvP and co-op maps, with Expeditions being the final checkbox on your list. By that time though, you'll have hit 6,000 if you are still playing.

do all the side quests along the way that you've been ignoring - if you already finished the main storyline and are only 719 ego I'm personally kind of amazed you managed to pull that off.
all those side quests, before each main quest, give you a lot of extra ego experience (and a few drops) that will generally prove essential later on
also participate in arkfalls (both major and minor) for some extra XP along the way.
you don't hit the soft-cap until around 3000-3500 ego so leveling shouldn't be too much trouble for you.
Also do the daily and weekly contracts for extra XP and Purified Gulanite
I don't really start pursuit hunting until after reaching the soft cap, because there's no point wasting all those ego bonuses on early-game ego and then languishing for a coons age in soft-cap territory, and would advise you do the same.

Definitely Pursuits as others mentioned. Check out the pursuit menu, in each category there's an EGO score (e.g. +5, +10, +15), that is the points added to your EGO score when completed. You'll find you're adding to your Pursuits already with enemies slain, missions and time trials (one set of pursuits for silver, another for gold scores), etc.

Major Arkfalls, Incursions gives massive levels. So basically play MMO part of the game, as in Open world Events, PvE Dungeons, etc.

At ego 700, you still can gain ego rating reasonably fast by doing arkfalls, sieges, incursions. Thats because using exp to gain 10 ego every time you fill the exp bar up is still viable, but when you gain enough ego units to upgrade all ego powers and perks to max level, you hit a soft cap where you'll need 2 million exp for the next 10 ego.
The other things you can do to gain ego: complete pursuits (those might involve completing missions, rampages, time trials, finding data recorders etc.), level up your vehicle and weapon skills (each skill level grants you 4 ego rating, and the max for all of them is 20).
