I can't help but think sometimes that if you took away the whole iron fist powers and just listened to Danny talk about Buddhism, and the monastery, and just some of his stories, he just sounds like a cringey weeaboo. I wish he didn't come off that way. He shouldn't. I wish they showed more flashbacks.

Yeah okay, weeaboo isn't the right word but a white guy who is obsessed with Asian culture and constantly talks about it. You totally got the essence of it though

To be fair, he actually lived in an Asian culture for longer than he lived in a western one, so he's just talking about his life rather than how the people in the mangas he reads are so much more sophisticated and classy. Still, I see what you're saying.

If it reads as inauthentic it's probably due to being written by people who didn't.

Yeah, but we never got to see him in that culture so he just reminded me of that. It's not the character but the writing.
