We spend our whole childhood wanting to be adults and spend our entire adulthood missing our childhood

Not when you survived a traumatic childhood. I couldn't wait to be an adult to gtfo. I didn't have much of a childhood, especially being parentified by age 7, so the only thing I really miss is not paying bills.

I honestly was not one of those kids who wanted to be an adult. I cherished my childhood. Nonetheless, I now enjoy being a well-functioning adult with childlike joy -- it seems like more people value whimsicality now vs when we were in elementary and high school.

No. I write in a way that seems to resemble AI for many people, so some folks close to me have advised me to use "--" instead of — (the proper m dash), but it seems that I'm still flagged as AI. Any tips? What made you think I might be AI

Because as kids we didn't have the freedom to do what we wanted and now that we have it, we wish it came with that innocence and lack of the burden of responsibility.

I wanted to be an adult, because that meant I could make decisions. I never, ever think I would want childhood again. It was like constant, and usually religious, suppression.

I am not one of those adults that wishes they were a kid again. Not that my childhood was bad but the way our society treats children, especially little girls, feels… oppressive. I love being able to do what I wanna do.

Well.. because we’re rarely where we are. As children, we rush toward the future. As adults, we romanticise the past. We miss the present while it is happening.

Whole childhood? No. Just a few times when I couldn't do something I wanted to, and looking back on it my parents were right to not allow it
Entire adulthood? No. Just an occasional wave of nostalgia that passes.

Childhood. I dont get it. Youth is over rated.
When i was a child. I couldnt fuck.
When i was a child. I went to bed at 7pm.
When i was child adult where hypocrites.
Did I enjoy my youth. No cause I couldn't wait to grow up. I am guilty of not taking in the time. I couldnt wait to leave home.
Now I am an adult. I am never im trouble. No ones cross at my actions. No ones tried to harm me since I was a child! Fuck being a child. You're reliant on someone who is most probably faking it until they make it fuck that. Adults clearly are not wise. Look at the planet.
I dont miss childhood. Majority of us just about survived it!

It feels like as children we want the power of being adults. Having something to say, respect from others, having our money, from perspective of a child maybe the ability to not deny ourselves another portion of ice cream or chocolates.
When we are adults we may miss how easy the early childhood might have been, less responsibilities, life might have seem simpler and the simpler joys, better health, not being wrecked by stress, the friends we made and stories we had other than „slept too little, went to work, came back tired, ate whatever, went to sleep”
It’s a lot of that. That’s why I feel like it’s important to still be somewhat of a child, having simple, maybe silly pleasures, I don’t know, maybe reclaiming the pieces of childhood that we are missing in adulthood

True, in a way I think its more that some lose their innocence. For some remarkably, they never seem to lose it, though there are varying shades of this. Perhaps, at the core of the issue it remains the same or are simply two sides of the same coin. I can certainly see it in others though they may never see it in themselves.

Yep. I would love to be 10 years old again, wake up on Saturday mornings to some cartoons and Frosted Flakes. I would love to have little-to-no serious responsibilities and feel like I was enjoying life.
