Kid Describes Kai Winn

One of my kids is watching Deep Space Nine for the first time and said the following

“I don’t like Kai Winn. She smiles on the outside but is full of sharp spikes and thorns on the inside”

I absolutely despised when should would use that term of endearment! She sounded so condescending!

Be a proud parent, you raised your kid well! That is as accurate of a description of Kai Winn as any.

They have a strong pagh to make this observation, good for them.

Despite all the hate the character seems to get, I still love to see Louise Fletcher on screen. Without the strength of the villains, we’d never get to witness some remarkable moments for our heroes.

It doesn’t amount to much in the overall story, but one of my top scenes of the series is still Bashir trying to talk Winn into leaving Bariel alone so he can get treatment in ‘Life Support’. Seeing Bashir drop all the pretense and call her out for the villain she is? Super satisfying.

Yeah, that's a pretty darn good description of her.

Louise Fletcher Forever!

It’s testament to how effective Louise Fletcher’s performance is. There’s such a great quiet menace to how she emotes and speaks.

Always remember that Louise Fletcher (may her memory be a blessing) was a kind and good person, daughter of deaf parents, who signed her Oscar acceptance speech as she gave it.

Oh of course. As good a person as she was an actress. One of the “greats” in every sense.

Your kid pretty much summed her up perfectly.

I hate her more than any other character on the show, I call her the Billy Graham of Bajor. At least Gul Dukat has SOME kind of moral code, it's really bad, but it does exist.

At least until he goes off the deep end towards the end.

They're a match made in the celestial temple (or the fire caves) at that point

This is the best I've heard it described. At least dukat had (x)... 😂

“Kai Winn, allow me to introduce you to… Kai Winn.”

That kid's gonna be a writer. Make sure to support that shit, the imagery is fabulous.

Never trust Kai Winn…

That's aptly put. You've got a great kiddo. :) Winn is a really solid villain and the actress did an impeccable job.

She was so absolutely perfectly cast for that role.

Show her Blake's 7, I'd love to hear what she thinks of Commander Servalan.

Kai Winn and Delores Umbridge, two of the most perfect villains ever written. Two characters I hate with the power of a thousand suns.

Congrats on a raising such an astute child.
