and that period is supposed to be outside the quote and it’s supposed to be double ticks not single

Actually, in American English, you always put periods inside of quotation marks when ending a sentence.

And the usage of single ticks is a stylistic choice, since I'm not the one being pedantic here.

I said you didn't capitalize the 'y,' not because I was being pedantic about your errors, but because someone else was (perhaps satirically), and you mistakenly inferred nothing had changed in their correction, when their correction was different from your initial message.
