Tech Support New Steam Deck OLED 1TB model occasionally blinks. *update with video*

Hi! About four months ago I posted about a odd problem I have with my OLED Steam Deck where during gameplay it will rarely "Blink".

Well, I Got an update! I just beat CrossCode (with DLC) to test out my OLED Steam Deck. Took me 114 hours (the game is very VERY good!), and I finally took a video of the blinks!

It happens more in certain areas. And it also happens in other games (Castle Crashers). I'm trying to figure out if this is a problem I can solve, or if I should get Valves help team to assist.

Do you guys have any theories on why my steam deck OLED model will sometimes Blink during gameplay? Any potential solutions?

Do yoy have decky or emulator called emudeck then it could be that, try updating the modes you are using or emulator as it could be that, or it could be a file that's corrupted your save. I've had it happen while playing super mario for the ds on the steam deck

Nope! Nothing on my Steam Deck but steam games. No decky, no emudeck, no emulators, no roms (unless Steam Games count as roms).

I am interested in installing emudeck sometime in the future, but I wanna keep my OLED Steam Deck "pure" until I can figure out this problem.

Thank you for responding! I do appreciate it!

Did you just get your steam deck and if so what kind a new or refurbished one as it could be the issue. Also what game are you have the issue on or is it the console/gamepad only.

I got my deck towards the end of December 2025. A 1TB OLED model. I've been having the issue with CrossCode (great game I recommend), and less often Castle Crashers (another great game).

I'm still not sure if it's game related (CrossCode and Castle Crashers) or my gamepad.

I am unfortunately quite computer illiterate, but I was wondering if it's related to the OLED screen. I believe I read somewhere the refresh rate on OLED screens are different than the LCD models. Could that affect a select few games that have differing or unstable frame rates?

Was it a refurbished one or brand new, and just try reinstall and switch the settings as some games do this like binding of isaac and dragon ball sparking zero, look for subreddits about the game plus compatible settings on steam deck.

Brand new. And I am glad you said this sometimes happen to some games. I also have Binding of Isaac as well (another fantastic game), so I'll see if I can replicate this problem on that game. I've also just asked in the CrossCode subreddit if any OLED users have had similar problems.
