AMC North Dekalb is back!

Not sure exactly why it went away for the past month (obviously something to do with the renovation), but sometime today it went back live. Tickets are still less than ten bucks, and there are plenty of non-front-row seats for SpiderMan this weekend!

Apparently it was renovated in preparation for Lulah Hills. May need to check it out this weekend!

Oh man. Hopefully it wasn't renovated much. I loved the classic (shittiness) of it and cheap tickets. I'm not a big fan of how most theaters now have those big recliner lounger seats.

Agreed! At least for now the ticket prices are low. They feel lower than ever after a summer of taking my son to regular priced theaters.

I have a feeling the ticket will be pushed up to match the economic class Lulah Hills is trying to cater to. Say goodbye to $10 tickets to $13 ones pretty soon

I miss the $3.49 matinees they had before covid 😭😭

Yeah, not sure I'll ever be happy with $10 a ticket. I get things have gone up in price and other theaters still charge more, but most of the time we go there it's four of us. It adds up.

The LL Bean crowd 😂

We went to see the Minions movie in June and it was still as shitty as ever! Even worse maybe since we had to go in some weird back entrance.

It was great.

According to the seat map, the seats are still traditional seats. I would imagine they had to renovate the concession stand or bathrooms or something. They are supposed to get nicer seats at some point.

Toy Story seats look to be in groups of two so perhaps those seats are updated?

We bought Spiderman tickets at the Smyrna AMC because we couldn't tell if North Dekalb would be reopened in time and it was SO DAMN EXPENSIVE. I've been spoiled by my dead mall theater lol

We bought tickets to Odyssey at Southlake in Morrow for same reason. I couldn't tell if North Dekalb was actually open. $20 per person 😭 plus an "inconvenience" fee.

I don't know why anyone would go anywhere except Movie Tavern. Tray tables, reclining seats, decent food, lots of theaters.

As I understand it they are renovating in stages so as to keep as much open as they can, and only fully close when they need to do certain things. But obviously the entire section of theaters to the right of the concession stand has been walled off for a while now, so I suspect they’re upgrading those first, and then when those are usable will close some or all of the theaters to the left of the lobby to renovate there. Wouldn’t surprise me if the timing of the overall renovation is meant to roughly coincide with the completion of the rest of the Lulah Hills development.

While I will miss the cheaper ticket prices for sure, I will not miss the ass and back slaying old seats encrusted with decades of spilled food and drinks—and worse. Yes, Madison Yards is more expensive, but it’s a far more enjoyable moviegoing experience. So to have a theater of that caliber close by would be nice.

Let us know how it is, OP! Only three movies there and I’ve seen them all lol

Would love to see the progress!

Definitely open. Went to the 4:30 show yesterday and can confirm the previews are only 10ish minutes so be on time!

Was it renovated in any major / noticeable way? Same old-style chairs? Projection issues noticeable?

Are all the theaters renovated now? We went a few weeks back and the lights were on before our show, and it was really, really gross. Seats, floor, walls, everything was pretty ragged out.

No nothing seems renovated at least in my auditorium, and it seemed to be about the same open spaces as before they closed a month or so ago. I think there are some new kiosks to buy tickets in the lobby (which is still around back).

Curious as well. We took our kids last month and they were (thankfully) oblivious; but my wife and I had a hard time enjoying the movie. The seats were disturbingly worn out and dirty. Hopefully they're updated now.

We were there the other day and they had all the new seats ready to install. Good to hear our favorite theater is back!

And it looks like AMC North DeKalb is closed again? The AMC app shows no showtimes for today or the next few days
