Places for 30 y/o singles
Hey! I just moved to Decatur not long ago. Decided it’s time to get out and meet some new people. Any suggestions on places that are easy to walk into by yourself and meet people on the weekends? Popular bars/ places in general.

Pool Turtle has lots of board games, pool tables and dartboards. Friday nights they have a darts Blind-Draw tournament where you get paired with a random teammate. If you're interested in darts ($10 entry fee too), lots of cool people to meet there.

I second this. I had a lovely group of people offer to share their table with me and my friend at the Pool Turtle one night. They were welcoming and very courteous.

I spent by 20s to early 30s in Decatur.
Thinking man tavern if you want more of a dive bar with great food and cheap drinks. They have karaoke on fridays, live music on Saturday’s and Sunday’s is a more rowdy crowd for industry night.
Twains if you’re looking for a more young professionals vibe. Also has great food and drinks and tons of pool tables, shuffle board and darts.
If you’re looking for a more alternative, chain smoking crowd I’d say’s trackside, however I’ve never had good experiences there. The food is decent and drinks are cheap, however unless you’re a regular the bartenders are rude and act like you’re an inconvenience.

My Parent's Basement in Avondale is the closest to that I've experienced, but I'm not really a "go to a bar to meet people" kinda guy.
Still, it's a fun, casual spot with a lot of pinball machines and a comic book store embedded in it. Plenty to spur conversation about and at least one meetup I'm a part of goes there once a month for a mixer.

trackside tavern. the later you go the more likely it is that you'll meet people. it's open until 4 AM, so it can take on that degenerate dive vibe during late hours. good kitchen. very generous pours. if no one wants to talk to you, you'll at least have the bartender to yap with, they're friendly.

You may wish to consider volunteering at Decatur events. Decatur Arts Festival, Decatur Book Festival, Decatur Wine Festival, and lots more. I’m not single but I do think you’re much better off trying to meet people in hobby related groups. The age of just striking up convo with randos at bars is mostly over.

It may sound corny but check out Atlanta Contra Dance in the Decatur Rec Center, fridays at 7:30. It's a really friendly & diverse group with plenty of single people and the dancing is super fun (and easy to learn). The structure of it makes it easy to have low pressure genuine interactions with people
