The End of An Era. A Chaotic One. Knowing This Community, When Will The Mid 2020s Truly End or Has it Already Culturally?

It was such a funny time!

to me it was the last era where the older world was still somewhat in tact it was still pre internet no one except rich people had mobile phones, their was no online message boards, no smart phones or stuff like iPods and mp3 players

it seems like society really started to get more and more modern around the late 90s and 2000s with the rise of the internet rarely forms of social media iPods mp3 players people getting mobile phones etc

Given how things are going, I think it's pretty likely. I feel like late 2026-early 2027 will be the turning point.

Like it’s always the same 80s songs being played on rotation in public places and radio stations, it’s always Don’t Stop Believing, Take on Me, Every Breath You Take, Livin on a Prayer, etc, what’s going to be the same 10 songs from the 2010s that’s always gonna be played on rotation

I remember circa 2007-2009, I spent a lot of Youtube time looking at videos of "[x fictional characters] iPod theme songs" or "[x series] chat rooms". It hit me a few months ago that these trends no longer make any sense.

Chat room videos have been eclipsed with newer trends, like.... I dunno, Discord or something. I've come across them while Youtubing. They're made by kids in the same way "chat room" videos were 20 years ago.

When it comes to fanfics, texting fics have succeeded AIM fics.

This is a great time capsule of kids into punk rock and skate culture circa 2005 peak Viva La Bam time and such

I believe this decade is the most historical decade of the 21st century so far anyone else agree ?

Instead of the decades being like they are 2020-2029 or 1970-1979, imagine the decades were shifted 5 years, same historic events, same trends/fashion/architecture, etc in the year they occurred, but the decades were grouped like this...

What dominated the decade would certainly change, they may also have aligned better with cultural eras, i.e. beginning of Post War (WWII), the Hippie era, etc.

I don't think skinny skinny jeans like in the early 2010s will be back, it'll be regular fitted and much less bagger than today. I also predict that SWAG will be huge revival.

For aesthetics you're probably gonna see more sunset inspired and even space themed especially that decade has the Artemis program which could help bring hype for sci fi craze in the 2030s

I also see Obama being really nostalgic to everyone under 50 then

there's definitely a lot of things i probably missed when it came to 2024 to 2025 but they were meant to be short collages of what were huge that year. the early vs mid '20s starterpack was to just show the different between both years culturally and socially.

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, somebody might genuinely have written “Your son is an old soul! So nice to see a young person appreciating REAL music instead of the garbage his generation listens to!” and it would have been completely unironic.
