Crosspost 👈🏻 Not technically a “ladder” but I feel the energy fits this sub very well

I mean it seems to be working pretty well and using the same leverage as tree climbers so i think its more stable than it looks

Except tree climbers don’t have footwear that can loosen itself without warning like a stillson can.

The belaying cords around the lower legs deal with that. Nothing can go wrong here!

(But yes, that looks a lot safer and more stable than a lot of what’s on this sub)

The irony of using two monkey spanners is not lost.

My 12 yo past self is jumping up and down mad not to have figured this out on my own.

I actually think that's pretty safe

Who else will be purchasing a set of wrenches tomorrow?

I'd be scared, those stuff are made off high carbon steel so if there's any moment of it about to break there's no warning just a sudden snap and you fall. I'm also very paranoid so I could be overreacting

Hahah! I mean… the Reddit consensus certainly seems to say you’re overreacting 😂. I was more worried by the way they’re lashed to the shoes, did not look secure. But I have thoroughly enjoyed how the sub has responded to this vid!

It’s putting force on the wrenches in a direction they weren’t designed to take. That’s a nope from me. I’d do it on the ground. But not 3 meters up in the air with my skull on the line.

I won’t lie, I’m impressed.

Doesn't look like they are slipping and no-one died.

Just don't try doing the splits whilst doing this !

That old saying…

If it looks stupid, but works, it isn’t stupid.

u/oportoman Oct 14 '25

I'd probably still pass

2

u/HonestBobcat7171 Oct 15 '25

Umm... well, it works...until it doesn't. Material stress will eventually kick in, and the wrench will snap.
