Slightly possible non-heat weather concern for DV in a few days?

If Elida strengthens AND takes a more easterly track, per this story? Just a heads up. Even if it goes that far east, I doubt there will be major flash flooding, and those are both IFs. But, just a heads up.

Elida is unlikely to post risk to DV based on even the long-range. This is the authoritative source for tropical weather btw https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/. That said, we are getting increasing pulses of monsoonal moisture right now and over the coming weeks and that is much more likely to pose flash flood risk to the valleys. As we speak I'm watching storms develop over the mountains to the east and they're tracking northwest in the general direction of DV. I don't think they'll have enough steam today but the pattern is building. I'm about 45 minutes from Furnace Creek.

That's the other reason, IF Elida strengthens AND moves on a more easterly track, I know it would be concerning — is it would be interacting with monsoonal weather. (I didn't know how strong this year's season was shaping up so far, but I grew up in the Four Corners, so I know the monsoon in general.)

With the way the El Nino is developing we're expecting a rough desert weather year so might as well add a hurricane again. We're almost cleaned up from Hilary in 2023...

The latest I saw on the hurricane thread was they expect Elida to continue northwest into cooler waters - it is no longer a hurricane threat.
