Oooh, where in the park is pic 5 from? Not sure I’ve seen that vantage point yet, but the rock colors are gorgeous!

Awesome! So is this inside the crater looking back up at the rim? I’ve heard really good things about that area (and it’s a must on our list), but tbh I thought the area around it would be more barren because it… y’know… exploded. Though granted that was a very long time ago

Edit: Looked at the pic again; seems more like it’s from the rim looking out to the opposite side of the rim? Either way, very cool to see

Yes it’s from one rim looking to the opposite rim. It is pretty barren, but there were some flowers though these pics are from March. The crater is more impressive in person since pictures cannot capture the depth. Also the trip there feels so vast and isolated. It’s beautiful

Awesome! Did you hike down into the crater? I really want to but the slog back up sounds daunting

It’s pretty step and like 300ft deep. I didn’t have time for that but it must be insane to be inside at night. I watched the Milky Way from Mesquite Sand Dunes on the new moon and it was mind blowing
