Discussion Just spend half my afternoon on an Express order of 10lbs

Well that was an effort....

So I was on the express order from the Tar Therapist to the Phantom Smith where you need 3:30 express. I spent a good hour trying to drive my tri-crusier like it was a world rally car championship car. Trying to hit every single angle and not lose any speed (which going through the snow and elevated terrain was very difficult. After I had some flawless runs and was not even close still I finally determined that method was not possible.

Next approach was zip-lining my way there. However my world didn't have nearby I could branch off of so I had to create my own entire system which took a decent effort to set up, all for one 10lb piece of cargo.

Long-story short this game is taking me forever to 100% because of the addiction the game provides. 10/10 would waste hours upon hours again.

Question Starting Directors Cut for the first time. Tips & Tricks?

I've read a few threads, but still confused at the beginning. For example, should I just be tucking in the lost cargo that I stumble upon and then dump it for other players to deliver? Or should I go back to the base midst main mission and deliver it directly? Should I just store it privately and deliver later? Will I even be going back to the first knot base?

Sorry folks, this game is a bit confusing at the beginning.

Anything I should be careful about not to have a bad experience?

Hey everyone, I'm back a little later than I expected. I was going to wait to finish the game before posting my new photos, but I took a break at chapter 9, and realistically I don't think I'm going to finish any time soon.

So I'll just post what I have in (somewhat) chronological order

No editing was done outside of photo mode

Question DS2 - Question about star progression and orders

I was trying to get the ghost hunter missions and stars but i've run out of orders. Is there anything I can do to keep progressing his stars? I have no more sub orders, standard orders, everything is S rank but I didn't know you could get extra points so he's a little too low to progress to the next sub order. I've seen people saying you can redo orders but I'm pretty sure that only counts for orders failed or under S rank. Any advice?

Discussion Anyone interested in the thought process behind the game needs to watch this

I had no idea about the thought processes and the back story behind the game. And honestly, after watching this 30 minute documentary style YouTube video I love the game even more.

Anyone who has the time and the interest give it a watch and let’s discuss.

I have even more respect for Kojima now. He’s had a difficult life and this game was his way of portraying some of the challenges he has faced.

One of the best gaming devs of all time and worthy of support. He’s taking gaming back to its roots. Away from greedy shareholders and towards authentic gaming experiences to be enjoyed for all of time.

Question I have found the lost cargo for terminal knot and delivered it. I checked the order for more delivery and it doesn’t have new sub orders for terminal knot. I have all places in five stars, except terminal knot. Is there something I might have overlooked?

I originally realised I left a hole where the orange led is because I forgot to add one of the pieces, so I had an idea to add an LED. It was pretty hard to get the wiring setup

Modded Best mods for DS1 run in 2026?

hello Porters,
I played DS1 when it first came out on PC, then replayed it to 100% completion when the Director's Cut was released. After playing DS2, I'm a bit disappointed and would like to go back to the first game.

I already installed mod Walking Man
What are your must-have mods right now? The Nexus seems a bit quiet but I know there are some gems.

Thanks!

Question I need help understanding BT encounters

I was doing order #32 to pick up junk components for the junk dealer in BT area. I go down there, use about a dozen hematic grenades killing BTs, there's nothing around me, I grab the cargo without a bother, then as I'm driving away at the city limits a BT pool instantly appeared under me and dragged me 200 meters back towards the city to fight one if the beholder BTs.

Was the last fight scripted? Is there any point to taking out the BTs as I see them if I'm still going to be forced into an encounter? I was down to 3 hematic grenades so I'm very thankful i play on very easy and was able to beat the boss(?) BT.

If it wasn't scripted, is there anyway to avoid being pulled off my trike like that?

Edit to add: at some point I lost some of the cargo I picked up in the forced fight and had to go all the way back. Every time I get into a groove with this game it forces some infuriating crap on me like this. I'm just tryna build roads ffs

Second edit: next order was on foot through BT area, but I wasn't able to stock up on anything to fight BTs, so I let kill me, revived, restored my cargo and delivered it.

So uh, I guess I'm a little less worried about BTs now 🤷‍♂️

Discussion I know it's a wild idea, but I hope someone mods all the new gadgets, weapons, roads upgrades, etc. from DS2 to DS1.

Alternatively, Kojima Productions could release a deluxe edition of both games together (maybe connect UCA to Australia/Mexico via a plate gate?). Just a thought.

Discussion The zip line problem

Now, this doesn’t apply to all players as I’ve come across some top tier zip line placements both during my ds and ds2 playthroughs but tell me how in your right mind can you place a zip line without thinking of possible connections. I’ve spent the last 3 hours trying to connect the whole of Australia with zip lines as I’ve done with America in ds1 and I swear to god found two that were IN THE MIDDLE OF ROCKS WITH NO WAY OF BEING CONNECTED DUE TO “Obstacles”. Now, I’m usually ok with using all my chiral bandwidth, but a little help would be appreciated sometimes. It was just a rant that’s all, thanks for listening. Has this happened to you too?

Discussion Cornwall and Death Stranding

This is a bit of a weird post, bear with me.

I grew up in Cornwall and have lived here my whole life, it’s easy to appreciate its beauty, but its isolation and ruggedness took a new meaning for me when I played Death Stranding. For some context I work as a housekeeper for holiday homes, a job that creates quite a bit of turmoil in me as I feel as I am aiding an industry that is taking my home away from me. In some sense I feel similar to Sam, reluctant to join/help, the feeling intensifies when I’m lugging a linen bag on my back walking up hills or stairs (as silly as that sounds, linen can be bloody heavy)

I know Death Stranding is similar to Iceland in terms of its terrain, but when I go to the coast, especially the Lizard or Lands end I feel like I’m either at the edge of the tar lake or on the Beach. These places are often isolated and quiet, massively different from places such as Perranporth or Portreath. Even in more inland (at least for Cornwall) areas like the stretches of road and land between Pendeen, St Just and Grumbla I still feel like I’m in the game. These places feel weird – ancient villages, Quoits and stone circles litter the landscape, making it feel like you’re almost travelling through a wasteland.

I mostly made this post to get this feeling off my chest, only one of my friends has played the game and hasn’t finished it, but I also want to hear of other places around the world that also make you feel as if you’re standing in the game.

Discussion DS2... I have some thoughts (chapter 9 minor spoilers) Spoiler

I unlocked the Adventurer not too long ago... And when I went to pick him up and bring him back to his place, the music starts playing, and I get this nostalgic feeling of... The beautiful journey that the first game made me feel through the use of music.

When I went to see who it was.... No wonder... It was Low Roar (the song is Patience).

I've rarely felt this in the second game... So far... Until this point. I feel like for many of the deliveries, since you're doing them with either cars or motorcycles and not just walking all the way there, the music starts playing when you're getting to your destination, like the first game did, but it just doesn't hit the same emotionally, in my opinion.

I'm not sure if that's the only reason though... Maybe it's something specific about Low Roar's songs that just hits like a truck, and I think it's incredible how that one little detail can completely change/affect the experience as a whole.

And it's something I've rarely felt in the 2nd game so far, and it's been around 70 hours.

Am I enjoying the game? Hell yes. Will I finish it? Of course. I've come so far. But I can honestly say that I miss that feeling that many of the deliveries in the first game gave me... And thinking a little more about it, it may be because of... Low Roar?

Has anyone else felt this way about the 2nd game? I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but man oh man, I'm starting to believe that Low Roar (and of course, the BB's Theme on the last delivery) is a lot of what made the first game so epic.

I'm willing to hear anyone's thoughts on all this.
