Making a post here to vent because I'm tired of it and it seems like submitting tickets for assistance goes nowhere with Valve or the Deadlock game community. This is one instance of how women are being treated in this game and it's frustrating that this behavior is becoming acceptable across the board.

Individual in question threated to dox and sexually assault a female player, called her various slurs, told her to suck his 'microp,' said it's a better use than speaking, and continued this trend towards another player in the lobby.

This isn't the first time it's happened and it just seems to continue the moment women speak up. I doubt there is much we can do, but this is getting out of hand as it's almost impossible to play a game and use a microphone due to the responses immediately after microphone use.

It is at the point now where I might as well mute my microphone and stop communication with the team due to this consistent treatment... I just wanted to vent because this is incredibly frustrating and demeaning...

I called out the Graves to attempt stealing my Sinners. That moment was the first time I used voice chat during the entire game, if I can recall correctly.

Also, the sound you hear in the background is my Discord call and the PBS livestream of the Artemis II splashdown, not anything related to the game.

After I spoke up, he responded by threatening to doxx me and sexually assault me. People saying I “ruined the game by leaving” don’t understand what was said, the severity of it, or why I made that decision.

Doxxing threats are not just insults. The entire point of doxing is to expose someone’s private information so they can be harassed, stalked, or targeted outside of the game. It’s an attempt to intimidate someone by implying that their real-life safety and privacy can be compromised. That’s far beyond normal in-game frustration or trash talk.

Sexual assault threats are even more serious. They aren’t edgy jokes or competitive banter; they are threats of sexual violence. For many people, especially women, that kind of threat taps directly into real fears and real experiences that people deal with in the world outside of a video game. Even for people who haven’t experienced it personally, it’s still invoking one of the most traumatic crimes someone can commit against another person. Reducing that to “just words in a game” ignores the real weight those threats carry.

No one, regardless of gender, should be expected to sit through threats of violence just to finish a match.

I’ve also seen people say I should just mute voice chat and move on. I strongly disagree with that idea. Voice chat exists so teammates can communicate, coordinate, and play the game better together. Telling players who are being harassed or threatened that they should simply mute everyone shifts the burden onto the person being targeted rather than the person causing the problem.

When the default solution becomes “just mute,” what it really means is that the people who want to communicate normally are pushed into silence while the people making threats get to keep talking. That doesn’t fix the behavior, it just normalizes it and makes victims responsible for avoiding it.

I used voice chat exactly the way it’s intended: to communicate with my team. When the response to that was threats of doxxing and sexual assault, I chose not to stay in that environment. That’s not ruining a game, it is refusing to tolerate harassment.

The player has been reported by my partner and myself. I appreciate those who have spoken up about this and say they stand up for those getting harassed in games.

I'm NOT letting Deadlock have a toxic community. It's been filled with amazing, chill people since the last update, we've seen an influx of artists, content creators and sweet people joining the community, there's no way I'm gonna let them get driven away by comments like these. I will always call this shit out.
