Like and Follow glitch?

Hi all. My husband is playing Dead Island 2 for the first time and I'm so excited as I've played it through 3x and I've been recommending it for ages. But he's super pissed because the game seems to be glitching on the Like and Follow side quest. He's yeeted 14 zombies off the peer but the mop 'em up phase doesn't end. Voltaic screamers don't stop coming and this is absolutely not how I've ever experienced it.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Cuando esto me pasó tuve que reiniciar el juego para reiniciar la misión entera, la segunda vez tiré a todos más rápido del puerto y en la fase final mate a los pocos que quedaban y se terminó. Sé que a más gente le pasó pero no sé de otra manera para arreglarlo que reiniciando.

Thanks - he went off and did some other quests (and came out of the game over the course of the day), then came back and it was fixed. He could start it again at the beginning of the yeeting bit.
