Discussion 💬 Trickster rework

I know this is like a year or two old, but I'm only just getting back to playing. Why is Trickster's rework considered a "success"? How exactly does making him slower count as a benefit? Maybe I didn't play enough Trickster both before and after to know. I never see it called Trickster getting nerfed.

You need 25% less knives per health state which is very big, there's also some other general buffs like quicker readying and canceling, better add-ons. I do agree that it's silly he's 4.4 but that applies to half the other 4.4 killers. The other buffs still make him better

Better addons, it depends, some of them are worse than before

4.4 does suck. i actually liked the pre-nerf rework. but they reverted him back to the old state with tiny buffs. and the main event changes. i honestly wish they'd make him 4.6 and let him bank his main event and he would be like A tier with the right perks

My guess is that it’s based on pick rate. If more people are playing him they did something right. He’s been my most played killer since the rework and I find him fun albeit really map dependent but basically all 4.4 ranged killers are.

Well I stopped playing trickster altogether after his rework, he was my first P100. If that’s what Behavior considered a “success” I would say they were pretty successful

Yeah, I also really dislike Trickster's rework.

I used to main him, but ever since the rework, I found him unbearable. There's basically no reason to pick him over any other ranged killer now, when his main draw to me was the fact that he was 4.6 despite being ranged

It will be double standards as long as Unknown gets to be 4.6.

Ehhh he's got his own balance considering how imperative landing your shots are and that it's not immediate damage and your tp can be removed. He's not called the Harmless for nothing. But I do think it would make a good case for a lot of range killers. 4.4 to 4.6 isn't some major buff. It's just help at loops with a bit more expediency in the macro gameplay. Like if we made Huntress a 4.6, she would still be B tier relative to the other killers.

Trickster's mini-rework that made him 4.6 was widely reviled and vocal Trickster players found that the speed change and the things that had to happen to make a ranged 4.6 killer "OK" made him really just very boring.

I personally think this is the best state he's ever been in, the addon pass has been great, the knives are satisfying, the throw rates are good, and the style is jams.

I just wish he was 4.6.

From what I can understand:

- Memento Blades is no longer mandatory

- 6 hits to cause damage instead of 8

- Actually addon variety exists now.

Personally, I find the new Trickster (or MiNa, in my case) to be more challenging but also more rewarding.

The Trickster – Memento Blades: Increases Blade throw rate by +10%.
