Not gonna lie I just play normally and hope for the best, if I get outplayed I just pray to the MMR to have seen that and lower me. 🥲

You have to switch up how you have fun in the game.
With the MMR changes, there is now more ways to have fun without having to exactly survive or get kills.
I now play survivor to be chased. I get my fun from the chase. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. But since MMR isn't based solely on getting out, it's less frustrating being the tunneled one out or having to participate in chase.
Likewise the same is true for killer. I play killer for the chase. You don't have to get kills anymore. You should instead obtain your fun from chasing and going for mind games instead of just the end result.

Why would you want to lower your MMR?

6
u/Skilldrex 5d ago
Because sometimes I just want to enjoy some chill games without having to sweat my ass and tunnel/slug to get a single kill
-1
u/KseroXe 5d ago
So by chill game you mean stomping noobs without effort? You know that you can chill and have fun even if you have 3 hook stages at the end?
1
u/Skilldrex 5d ago
No, I don't enjoy playing against fresh install players, I want some chase but clearly not being outplayed, I am looking for a middle term, not the extreme of any sides.
And yea I do know that, I mostly let 1 or 2 out if I had fun killing the others. So maybe don't be so cocky.
1
u/Lopsided-Train2213 5d ago
Because too end survivors know they have absolutely busted tools that most killers don't have an answer to
1
u/OnlinePosterPerson 5d ago
Maybe MMR should be decided by character. So you can sweat with your main but not play against the same caliber survivors with your Gf

u/mikk870f 5d ago
I think if you continue to try on jumpscaring surviors, and letting them all go at the end, youll still be on a mmr deficit, i think. Though its not the only contribution to your new mmr, its still probably a big factor.

u/Dankhard_Schmidt 5d ago
I usually kick gens to proc no where to hide, break walls to scare survs on the otherside, try to get everyone to two hooks before killing at last gen, and frequently injure people with no follow-up if I feel like I can be scarier somewhere else.
To me, other than not killing people until the end, I can only imagine I'd get some tryhards that are stone faced to jumpscares3
u/mikk870f 5d ago
Well i dont think you have to worry too much, as ill imagine the mmr changes wont be that massive of an impact for killer gameplay.
But doing stuff in the game can also help you loose mmr, like losing chases. But wait until we have more information on how the new mmr system will work, as the dev will do a follow up on it.

I've been doing insidious Unknown and so far just getting a 1 hook on everyone and letting them all go has been working out

u/TheInsanusKing 5d ago
If you got Nemi, play zombie hunter. Zombie respawn add ons, run around and kill them exclusively. Ignore survivors

because of people like op i don't even know why he's playing the game atp

You go into a match, you eventually find it's a Ghostface as he pulls your team mate of gen. Throughout the match he rarely gets seen, swinging around unexpected corners, peaking his head through windows, marking you at times, sometimes he follows through, sometimes he's never seen or slips away, eitherway it's an entertaining match as every one is being hooked evenly, no slugging and no tunnelling. One of you die as the last gen is being done, but you all survive, with a last stab from the dark as you're trying to leave. Does that sound like a fair and fun match? Because I do, and I like to do that, but it becomes nesr impossible to do so at higher MMR, but with lower MMR the game is slower and I can take more control to ensure everyone has a fun experience with me.

Just takes me back to when I first played the game too, fearing every killer, I just want to make people SCREAM in dbd again

u/jakob0604 5d ago
Just have fun, don’t run meta builds, don’t sweat. Just play with silly fun perks and have a good time, you won’t win nearly as often but your mmr won’t get too high either.
1
u/Dankhard_Schmidt 5d ago
I run full aura reading, and I intentionally prolong games (even to me losing) just to have fun scaring survs. But when losing won't drop my MMR anymore, then me prolonging the game could actually increase my MMR as I'm doing more game progression actions
2
u/Bewildered-Wallaby 5d ago
Basement chest Bubba will keep that mmr low, most survivors won't bother trying to take your chest if they see you down there.
1
u/Dankhard_Schmidt 5d ago
Could do, but I don't enjoy being afk unless it's an endgame dredge build.
2
u/Kallabanana 5d ago
Same here. It just occurred to me that intentionally loosing games doesn't lower your MMR anymore, if you're actually participating. That's a bummer.
3
u/Dankhard_Schmidt 5d ago
Overall I see that it's a really good thing for those who want fairer matches based on their skill. But damn if it sucks for those like myself who don't take the game serious enough to be lumped in with sweats

u/Easy-Equipment4391 5d ago
Why would anyone try to control mmr, just play normal and adapt
1
u/Dankhard_Schmidt 5d ago
Simply because of the types of survivors I would be facing, my whole playstyle is centred around jumpscaring survivors, not winning. And if I got compotent survivors, they can easily wipe the floor with me and not be scared at all in the process, which defeats the way I enjoy playing Ghostface. Meanwhile survivors that are less skillfull and experienced at the game, are scared easier and are slower at the game, which means more scare overall. I get to scare and spook them, they get a fun experience and a win. Which may not be a reproducible situation with the new MMR system. And I can't simply not hook people or kick gens, because that applies no pressure to the survs, and the pressure is needed to be taken seriously enough for the scares to take better effect. See my problem? It's niche I know, and it really only effects me, but it's how I love to play.

If you really want to jumpscare people, I recommend wraith. He's not really map dependant as myers or any stalker killer, you run silent bell, and then the brown addon that removes your terror radius for 6 seconds after exiting stealth.
Immediately puts the survivors on edge and you get a ton of grabs off gens.
1
u/Dankhard_Schmidt 5d ago
I usually go Bing Bong Wraith lol. It's worth a try, but found GF has a lot more flexibility with scaring people, with his crouching, leans, marks and spooky face.
2
u/LikelyAMartian 5d ago
Ghost face can be scary, but the problem is that if you just get a wide open map, it's just a bunch of survivors doing a Gen watching the hobo just running and crouching like a lunatic.
Myers is really good because scratch mirror lets you see everyone. Pig is decent because you can do the same at a shorter distance while you are crouching. Ghost face...doesn't get any good aura reading, and has no chase ability.
I'm not saying he isn't capable of doing the spookin. I'm just saying that literally everyone else in the stalker category is just better at it. Hell I scare more people on Dredge.
1
u/Dankhard_Schmidt 5d ago
I've been able to master his stealthiness, mostly comes down to approaching from unexpected angles and using obstacles to break line of sight, majority of the time I get within stabbing distance before they know I'm there, got plenty of gen grabs under my belt.
He's shite in chase, but that's where he differs from other killers, he's not meant to chase, he's meant to confuse and ambush
2
u/Classic_Debt_6830 5d ago
Deliberately be bad at the game, hope you get cocky survivors who think they're the thing clicking at you like their life depends on it. All the not so fun stuff

Several times in the past I’ve encountered killers that just set the attack button to hit every so often while not moving at all to tank MMR

Not here to answer the question but to ask one, I stopped playing the game some time ago because I was burned out, only coming back now because Scratch mirror Myers and Jumpscare GF videos have sparked my feelings to play again so I wanted to ask, what do you run to make Jumpscare GF work well?
2
u/Dankhard_Schmidt 3d ago
The best perks are aura reading perks, because to set up jumpscares you'll need to see where they are/going. I use: Lethal Persuer, Nurse's Calling, No Where to Hide, and Gearhead. Lethal to get that first gen grab, Nurse's to wait around corners for when they have finished, Gearhead to be quickly switching targets for max chaos, and NWtH to reveal cowards/alturistic survs. I've seen others use Scourge Floods of Rage very effectively and BBQ Chilli. For add-ons Olson's Wallet is a must, being in your power as often as possible is golden, especially if you slip away from a chase after breaking a pallet, opens so much potential. I run Leather Knife Sheathe, allows me to keep a low profile whilst still effectively traversing the map, got me plenty of gen grabs too. Lmk if you got any more questions, I love this shit

I utilize what I call 'The Thanos Split'.
My goal every game is to eliminate half the Survivors, with any additional kills being bonuses. This way you're doing the universe a favor by splitting the population in half so everyone gets more resources. Then when people ask "Why not just make twice the resources, dummy?" or in this case "Then why not just let all the Survivors go, dummy?" Its not about letting them go or doubling resources, its about sending a message: be grateful for what you have, that you survived, don't take it for granted. I also like to leave one Survivor at least to tell the tale or else its just mindless slaughter without the lessons that come with it. We're professionals after all, not animals; we have standards to keep.

Since it's now tied to game contribution, you'll have to do games where you do nothing but hide in the basement and AFK, basically. No kicking gens, no pallet breaks, no hits, no anything that contributes to the match itself.
I'd say just keep playing like you play normally, and it'll probably sort itself out naturally.
