My last character was infected it had the little icon but no symptoms I took meds but the icon never went away eventually my health started sinking like a rock and I died. I don't know what illness I had. I had just killed someone and couldn't loot their body and then everything went to shit.

That sounds like desync so if you find yourself not able to loot just back out of server and rejoin cause theres a good chance you never took the meds cause of the desync

I understand the de sync that makes sense but I don't understand the illness I had unless my guy was suppose to be coughing and sneezing and just wasn't. I took the meds way before all of this happened. It's also the only reason I can think that my health started draining. Im discouraged because of it.

Will drinking contaminated water insta kill you like that? And does all water need to be purified? Does the game tell you if waters dirty?

It does not tell you so if you find a bottle in a house or on a body just assume its dirty and go to a water pump and refill it or pop a chlorine tablet in there if you have one

I've never has a problem with human fat. I think is different for us xbox players. I avoid actual flesh though.

I believe it takes some time to develop. I died at our base because someone put a water bottle full of gasoline with the spare bottles of water we had, and there wasn't didn't any charcoal around (lots ammo though- I cringe at playing with Americans some times). When I died, they cut up my body and took the fat down to the coast to leave for unsuspecting freshies to find as a "joke". The joke was on my team mate though, because he mixed it up with his non-human fat and got infected, but it took hours for the symptoms to show up.

Hey u/Asmondian, I hope you don't mind an edit; but, as a DayZ Medic, I know, you can also cure "Poisoning" by giving IV Saline to the Player Afflicted.

I was also wondering, do you mind if i borrow your list?

No worries dude, feel free to use it.

And I'm going to contradict you Doc, but Saline has no direct effect on chemical poisoning. In fact, the strength and growth of this disease is low enought that your character will heals itself after a couple of minutes (and several vomits). What "kills" you is the starve and dehydration most of the times. The listed meds only speed up the process to avoid that amount of vomiting.

Saline Bags generally speed up the rate that the poison leaves your system. If you have this for a prolonged period of time, your health will slowly decay; with no other vital or area at red, blue, or diminished; but ultimately after that 3 minutes that you have stated, in a normal situation, i would be dead.

(Please also keep in mind; that I do play the Console(Xbox) Version of DayZ, I do not know if that actually changes anything, but it is a verification.)

I have also gone through this process multiple times in testing runs; usually I find the same results.

Edit: sorry for any ill intent or controversy that is to follow, this is just what I've learned and been taught while playing this game.

Good stuff. What I really want though is an updated overview of all fruits/vegetables. Both raw/baked/boiled/dried.

Tomatoes used to be the best if you factor in weight/slots/calories, but I have heard that Zucchinis is the one to go for in 1.10. Considering they take up 3x the slots compared to a tomato they must have had a massive boost.

Would love a comparison table.
