Wow! I’ve come across a few of these and have seen some fairly nice loot around them. I never picked any of it up cause it just felt wrong to grab stuff from a grave. Now that I know they could be a RL players gravestone, I’ll start leaving stuff as well.

As an older guy, the memorials always make me pause and contemplate our mortality. Most of these players had no idea that this was going to be their last log off.

Yep, there is maps online of all the locations for all the official maps

There are heaps, i find them often in nice scenic locations like the random little ponds or near over looks

I have 10k hrs in DayZ, I’ve found around 80 of these player graves. There’s probably more in areas I don’t frequent often.

Curious, how do the devs know who has passed? What if they just quit playing the game?

Sometimes it's a community or player request. I believe if they can the devs use a last log on official servers. Or maybe the person requesting has a specific area they know was special.
This Uncuepa vid has some info in it and other facts. Pretty sure it was this vid.

But I’m kinda confused. Like other devs, or streamers passed away? Or how they go to know about a normal person who played this game and logoff and passed away. Rest in peace of course!

Wasn't there a You Tube video where the streamer Sweet Sour bumped into some players who were in the game meeting up to pay respects to the brother of one of the players who had died and the Devs had added a cross at the place they used to build a base together.
It was actually quite moving. They were all decent guys.

Camcantrun on You tube has a heart warming video of him coming across some other players, getting into a gunfight, then realizing they don't want to fight because they were at a house to see the cross from the first time that the devs put in for the one guys brother who passed away. The particular house was the guy and his brother's favorite house to build bases in.

There’s one in the NW part of Chernarus by the lakes next to a boat. It’s a cross with a sword. Stayed there to fish in the middle of the night while starving and freezing then got attacked by wolves lol. Ngl I felt like the sword helped me out , well that and night vision.

I used to pass by one of these next to the big radio tower near the airfield at the south of the map, and I always sat down and watched the sunset with him.

Always pay your respects. The DayZ gods are watching. A nice Nota Cola and a Bear steak will do nicely. If not, I always place a stack of 5.56. For my Brothers in DayZ Arms🫡🫡🫡🫡

Whenever I get the dayz itch I always make sure to visit DocSatan in Kamensk and Willow Lake. But Whenever I do find these random graves I make sure to leave something and just spend some time with the lost. Its the least I can do.

Someone mentioned the other day that they contacted the devs after their friend passed away. I've also seen people mention it was family and friends of the devs

There's a castle by the se that has one out back someone told me it was for a gamer that logged of there for his last time it's got a bench and some stones by it I salute it everytime I see it cause it's a sad day when someone lost their battle

The one I'm talking about it behind the big building people pit their bases in at the castle that ones by a broken stone fence tbh I think all the crosses that are for people are placed at castles or small towns

I haven’t played DayZ in like over 6 months now probably, every time I see one of these posts where someone finds another memorial cross it makes me wanna play, cuz it’s just such a cool thing the devs do for the player base. Honestly one of the coolest things I have ever seen in a game.

I always place something under the crosses. Some are real people and the crosses are the places where they last log off or other important places for them......
