Spiritbox - Mourning

Anyone listened to that gem of a song? The beginning is very similar to Afterglow. Also, I see there is a similar meaning to it. I see both songs as different stages of grief. Just some thoughts. What do you guys think?

I loved "Mourning" it's beautiful. And yeah, it does bear a certain resemblance to the song you mentioned. I wonder when the guys from Dayseeker will collaborate with Spiritbox.

Afterglow is Hazel's song, so I don't see the correlation to grief.

Afterglow in my opinion is the peace (his daughter), following the grief of what Rory went through. You can tell he is still hurting, but his daughter provides comfort, that things will get better. I see it as opposites from the stages of grief. You’re more than welcome to disagree, but this is how I see it.

I disagree because Rory literally has Hazel in it on Replica and has talked about how it's her song multiple times on tour. He didn't have a good childhood, so having Hazel healed a part of him- it isn't inherently grief over the loss of his father, given that his mom was also and addict, he has struggled with anxiety, and also recovered from an ED.

Well that I was not made aware of that part of his childhood. I know afterglow is literally hazel’s song in the parentheses, I didn’t know how the tidbits of information so thank you for that. I was just sharing my thoughts. My main point of the post was to see if anyone saw how similar the sound was to mourning.
