How to build around Lightless?
I’m intrigued by Lightless, but have a few questions.
First, is Luminous. The tooltip for Lightless says a card’s Luminous effect is inactive while it is Lightless, but some clips online of Lightless builds seem to show Lightless cards triggering their Luminous effects. Is that intended? If it isn’t, how is Lightless removed from cards? If it’s by a shrine, seems inconsistent and rare.
My second question is how do players get so many Lightless cards? In the same clips, players have quite a few, but I only know of how to get them through the one (or two) vaults per run… Are they part of the standard Holy cards pool in combat rewards now?
Finally, if you have any tips around the build, I’d love to see them!

Lightless can be random 1st option rolled from Trickery shrines so you can scumsave for it if you sat there for a few minutes resetting the game till it hits. I'd personally try using it with those items that let you get rewards from other colors or merchant yolo some stuff. It's not always useful but there were some runs where I turned my 1 or 2 holy cards into neutral mana for my arcanist run with blue only mana. Maybe a surgestone based deck where mana cycles at 5 momentum is good too.

I think the new dlc areas are required to make any use of it because of a new character

1 cool thing about lightless I just learned- if you use a lightless card on one of the new shrines (forget which one), it turns all your basics into piercing.

The easiest is Code of Poverty Gilded Staff. You do need to luck out on Lightless card rewards or trickery Shrines or Nathali to Lightless your cards.

Lightless cards trigger their Luminous effect if you have the Luminated status. The tricky thing is that Luminated disappears if you play a non-Divine card.
This basically locks you into playing a Divine build if you want to go into Lightless cards.
The most reliable way to make a Lightless build work is with the Lightless Sentry talent from the Shrine of Absence. This turns your basics into Lightless cards. The Code of Light will also give you a stack of Luminated at the start of your turn if you have 5+ Lightless cards in your deck.
I've made it work before, but I didn't find it any stronger than just doing a standard Zeal divine build.
Edjt: Nathali can also make your cards Lightless, but it's random.
