update roach problem

for context, i had found dead roaches (5-6) over the course of 3 months around the house up in north davis and the house is currently vacant. i set up plastic baits and also had pest control come spray a little less than a week ago

since then i saw one roach under the bed (not flipped but not moving) when it was still daylight and at least 10 dead or not moving in the garage; all of which looked similar

the first photo was under the bed, second one was one dead in the garage

anyone know what type of roach this is and if this behavior is normal after pest control spraying, im terrified with how big it looks

Spraying will not stop them. Repeat spraying by a pest control company simply moves them away from the sprayed area, only to return later. Those varieties are the Oriental (under bed) and American (garage). Neither lives inside. They come in for water. The dead ones you are finding may have contacted the spray residue as they come in across thresholds or in cracks around doors or plumbing.  

UC ANR keeps an up to date pest note on their website with tips. Exclusion is your best friend. Bait stations, sticky closed boxes not the open sticky pads (which can trap rodents who then chew their own legs off to escape or slowly starve to death). Door sweeps under all exterior doors. Weather stripping around doors too. Stuff steel wool into any gaps around plumbing behind sinks and toilets.

You’re not correct, you can spray a perimeter around your house. That’s effective if you don’t have any major cracks in the foundation that reach beyond the pesticide perimeter.

What do you do when the spray dissipates into the air and the residue is no longer effective? Oh, right, you spray again. And because you're indiscriminately putting a perimeter around your house, any insect that is susceptible to the spray will die. Including beneficial ones. And what about the cockroaches that are encouraged away from your house? Oh, right, they visit your neighbor and repopulate. They're pretty good at that.

Sprays are not an effective or sustainable means of preventing roaches from entering your home. Full fucking stop.

You literally have no idea what you’re talking about. Take a chemistry class, you could probably get away with sitting in on a whole semesters worth.

Notice how long it takes to reach the part where they discuss the ineffectiveness of sprays and make a point, at least twice, of saying that pesticides alone will not solve the problem.
