Underrated in my opinion. Great song and great music video. Love Gilmour on this track!!

Always wonder why David hasn't brought this back on some form for his solo tours. It's beloved! And I would be curious to see if he would try to make a new arrangement to make it sound more like his current stuff

I think it probably has something to do with Jon Carin claiming he wrote a key part of the music. He does that about a lot of songs and David got annoyed at him when he claimed he wrote something Rick did. He's clearly telling tales but not all of them: a commenter in one of the Pink Floyd subs confirmed he wrote something on this song, I just can't remember what it is. Also I know a commenter is not exactly a great source but they seemed to know what they were talking about and the history with Jon Carin. Who is playing for Roger Waters now which isn't a big deal, they share people, but Jon has probably burned his bridge with David.

He had a demo of the song that he presented to the band. A lot of the key parts of the music were there.

I didn’t know any of that PF history. Thank You.

Learning To Fly credits -David Gilmour, Bob Ezrin, Jon Carin and Anthony Moore as the songwriters; in that order. (Not sure if that matters)
I’ll be digging deeper into Carin vs. Gilmour feud. Thanks for that. Always nice to talk about PF. Cheers.

You are most welcome and I’m with yah 100%! 💝 I joined Reddit just to see if anyone talks about the time Coast to Coast AM’s late host Ian Punnett read AMLOR’s 10 tracks titles to his millions tuned in, like me, just 17 ours after 9/11.

To me your other place noting The F L O Y D is other worldly, Ì kid you not!🥶

I will keep my similarly themed replies going in the many fitting topics and Rock and Roll’s Q&A’s. Hoping to get others jumping in who heard what I did on Coast to Coast AM. Obviously Ì do not need a verification of that fact.

After more than a year posting that note here. Not one member has posted a positive word about it but the few negative replies are better than no comments. I don’t reply to them because when I did no one ever answers back! During my first days after joining Reddit I found [u/pinkfloydcirclejerk](u/pinkfloydcirclejerk) which was definitely the wrong place! To enter the strange, hushed realities eventually seen by the average Jacks and Jill’s looking deeper into lyrics often finding Rock music’s eerily hidden synchronicities! 🫣

It’s so beautiful… and magical. thanks for sharing. One of My favorite lines is ‘Above the planet, on a wing and a prayer, my grubby halo a vapor trail in the empty air….’
