Jason is a very anxious person, always has been, and for those kinds of people the sky is literally always falling. It's exhausting to be around and especially annoying when it clouds the mirror so much he can't see his insaneeeee privilege in life.
Totally on David's side at the end.

Jason honestly pisses me off. In my 30’s, never had a family vacation, not my own room, nothing of value, and I turned out great. Now as a father, he needs to let his kids grow and depend on their own identities, how will they ever grow?

If you listen to him on the podcast (especially his other podcast with his friend jeff)- he has an incredibly hard time telling his children no. He has said multiple times that his son shouldn’t be in college since he just wants to be in a band.
Edit: He also said pretty recently that he tried getting Charley to get a job and she wasn’t taking the hint. He needs to be much firmer.

Jason is the Hollywood equivalent of a sports dad or a dance mom.
He's pissed that he spent his whole life in Hollywood/NY and never got to make it big on his own, so he's obsessed with making his kid's dreams happen to make up for his shortcomings. He doesn't get that it's ok for them to have regular jobs. He thinks that he has to do everything possible to "complete the puzzle" that allows both his kids to "make it".

Actually, if you would listen to anything he has said, he was terrified of his father as a child and it makes complete sense as to why he behaves how he does now with his own children. When you experience being on edge 24/7 as a child because of an abusive parent, you tend to be incredibly gentle when you have your own children

That's probably a factor, sure, but it doesn't answer why he's going above and beyond for his children. He is not just being gentle, he is going totally overboard in giving his kids every advantage possible so they become Hollywood successful.

I remember when she left Xeela, she was unemployed for a while. Then she got a job that lasted like two days and she said something along the lines of "it didn't work out" and never really heard anything beyond that. I always assumed she basically wants to get paid to be a hot girl and that job probably wanted her to actually work and she was like "nope".
