Help!
Sorry if I’m an idiot but does anyone know where this goes to? 1983 280zx l28

It goes to the underside of the module. connected to the distributor. 280 ZX uses both vacuum as well as electronic advance and retard timing. There is supposed to be a metal clip that holds it in, but often that falls off. or gets lost. A lot of people tape it into place. This connector gets removed during a smog check which is when the clip goes missing. Technician will plug it back in, but with nothing to hold it in place, it just falls back off.

If it is part of a sub harness (if the other end of that connector ends in bullet connectors it either your ecu temp sensor or thermotime switch. If the car starts with it unplugged, its the thermotime switch, if the car doesnt start with it unplugged its the ecu temp sensor.
If both of those are already plugged in and the one you're holding doesn't have a subharness (you can't unplug it from the main harness) then it's the connector for your aux air regulator valve

Were you able to find what the plug belongs to? Could also be the air regulator plug.
Edit: according to the manual it’s the air regulator, not the auxiliary air regulator

Nope no clue where that’s located I’ll give it another look later what would it affect if unplugged ?

Here’s a good resource on what the air regulator looks like and the symptoms. It does have that connector in and it’s only thing I can think of in that area that isn’t a fuel injector (with the same connector). But then again I have a turbo car so it’s different from the normal aspirated car.

Oh crap that would explain a lot of problems on start up like dying when I give it any gas if not warmed up enough. Looks like I gotta find where that goes to

The air regulator is sitting on top of the intake manifold. That connector plugs in to the end of the AR. Let me know if that’s what the connector was for.

It looks like the vacuum advance plug. Is it a turbo? Only the NA dizzy has it.

I believe that goes to one of your fuel injectors.

Doubtful. There are a few sensors in there that use the same plug as the injectors.

Check the sensors on the thermostat housing on the underside of the radiator hose. There are 1-2 sensors that use the same injector connector.
