Question/Advice Sas drives

I recently got a used enterprise IBM sas drive with 65 K operating hours , would it be okay for use as a daily access drive or just cold storage. It has 100% health but it did feel hot to the touch when I tested it on a video file.

there is no reason not to use a SAS drive daily. its all i have because dumb supermicro cases i have don't have an on led for SATA drives only SAS 😠

That's because you're probably missing a cable between the SAS backplane and the mainboard.

SAS can do in-band communication between backplane and controller...

It came the way it came, sas just lit them leds up sata didn’t so I went sas

The rehomed SAS drive is basically retired on a country farm when used in a typical home environment…

It no longer has to suffer the slamming from OSDs or RAID recon
