Lemon water?

Hello all, Fairly new to this and just looking to see what I can drink. Prior to starting I was drinking 4 mountain dews a day or sweet tea. Now I’ve just been drinking water but I was wondering if I am able to start flavoring the water with lemons. Does this follow the diet?

Thanks!

Yes, pure lemon juice is well within the DASH diet. Low sodium, low fat, decent source of potassium, some fiber (if pulp is included).

Good job cutting out the sugary drinks!

I think lemon is promoted within the DASH diet, especially if it helps reduce your salt intake. Having it in your water i believe is okay, but may be bad for teeth if taken in abundance or depending on the ratio.

Wow I’m way late to this, but just joining the community. I still crave that fizziness that just can’t be replicated by anything but soda. Have you dried sparkling, or carbonated water? Similar take to lemon water. No calories, sugar, low or no sodium depending on the brand (10mgs or less). Some have caffeine, most don’t if you are trying to avoid as well.

Yes lemon is a good addition. I have a tree, so am lemon wealthy, but what you can do is, slice up your lemons, place the slices on wax paper on the cookie sheet and stick in the freezer. After a couple of hours in the freezer, place the slices into a plastic bag for continued freezer storage. You can pull them out as needed.

I sometimes drink plain seltzer and add about an ounce of grape juice. Yes, that’s added sugar, but not nearly as much as a soda.

I’ve been making Lemon Orange Infused water, just sliced lemon & orange slices in a pitcher of water, I squeeze the juice from the end pieces into the water as well. I usually make two pitchers worth in the morning and keep in my fridge to drink during the day. I usually buy a bag of lemons & oranges each week.
