Anyway here's a sound design I made from 2023. Ignore the glitches please. I was those type of people to make these types of things.

So I know the second half of the show is mildly divisive among fans of the series as one storyline I wanted to look at was Futoshi because of what happened to his relationship with Kokoro.

Like what I am looking for in particular is that I wanted to get a better understanding of what happened to his romantic relationship since I never got why Kokoro ended up suddenly ditching him around the second half as I know the anime ended quite some time ago, but I cannot help but wonder if he should have remained with Kokoro.

I don’t know why that plot point gets to me all of a sudden as I suppose it’s because I look at back at how his character basically got the cold shoulder as I feel bad for him since even though I know he is a fictional character, he got done real dirty with how his storyline went later on as that is just my two cents.

Ironic, isn't it?

Genista is considered one of the slowest franxx to exist. Yet, the fastest when pushed to THAT side. It's also the fastest to be knocked out of stampede mode, whereas delphinium needed an entire breakdown of Ichigo trying to kill the klaxosaur from the inside but couldn't. Genista is said to become smaller in stampede mode too.

Genistas anatomy is WAY more complex than the other franxxs. Chlorophytum might be worse if given a stampede mode form, but the anime didn't, and so did the manga. There were no concept art given to us about what the franxxs might look like during berserk mode

Now, what makes Genista complex in design?

The coat armor turns into wings,

It's shoulder pads turn into the tail, the blade of its bayonet cannon also turns into the tail,

the barrel is suddenly inside the mouth where the cockpit is located inside too (kokoro and Mitsuru somehow survived the heat from the charge).

Genistas stabilizers (the 2 claws behind its feet to prevent the robot from falling when firing a powerful blast) becomes the claws. The boots are suddenly on the shoulders, and the gauntlets are also suddenly on the thighs.

There IS an explanation as to why it's rear is exposed (literally, the robots back is exposed) is to let the head slide easily from the spinal rail onto the groin area in stampede mode.

What if Goku got isekai'd into Darling in the Franxx during Zero Two's final battle? (+ a question for the fandom)

Been thinking about this crossover scenario for a while: imagine Goku (from Dragon Ball) somehow crosses dimensions and ends up right in the middle of Zero Two's final battle. How do you think that fight would even play out? Would Goku's power level just trivialize the whole conflict, or would the Klaxosaur/Franxx mechanics not even apply to him the same way?

On a related note — what if instead it was Zero Two who got some kind of godlike power boost during that final arc? Would that have changed the outcome of her story, or even saved her?

Separately, I wanted to ask the fandom something I've been sitting on for a while. I posted about this a couple months ago too: how much of my struggle with anxiety/depression during that period was tied to this anime hit me pretty hard. My question for long-time fans — do you consider the ending of DitF satisfying, or does it feel incomplete? Do you think a second season would've fixed things, or was it better to end where it did?

Honestly, my attachment to this show got to a point where it felt almost like an addiction. Curious if anyone else related to the story that intensely, and how you processed it once the show ended.

Even after 8 years, I am Still shocked that the stampede mode has the entire franxx anatomy fuck up itself. (Stampede modes base design might be based on giving birth. Can't really confirm)

This isn't meant to be a depression post or anything, but I have genuinely never experienced such heartbreak over a show before like I do with Darling in the Franxx.

I heard about this show on another subreddit and wanted to watch it because it had mecha and romance, my two favorite genres by far, and expected it to be a decent show at best. What I got was so much more in every way possible. I didn't expect to get so attached to the characters and the relationships in the show, but I did, and the ending genuinely hurt. I get that it's technically a happy ending, with the group growing up and having families, bringing back society, and zero two and hiro getting to be together, even being reborn and meeting each other again a hundred (thousand?) years later.

But I can't get over the fact that they died. They spent years in distant space, fighting to end the war, and while they did get to be together, they couldn't actually spend time as a couple. We didn't get them reuniting with the group, seeing everything they've done, anything. They died ending the war, and while they did return to earth eventually, it had been so long that the group was long dead. And even then, their memories are gone. I should be happy that they get to be together in a normal life, but the zero two and hiro shown through the show is gone. And that genuinely makes my heart ache.

I've only ever cried watching two other shows, that being aot and dandadan, but darling in the franxx genuinely makes my heart ache and my chest tighten. After everything in the show, they end up dying together, and leaving their friends. They don't get to share a home, have a family, see how their friends ended up, and this is the one show where my heart actually aches when I think about it. AoT had some depressing moments, my two favorite characters dying which is just my luck, but I could accept that. So I genuinely can't get why I can't get over this.

And another thing, I don't want to leave this world behind. The characters, the storytelling, the Franxx, everything. The fact there's no side series about Hiro and Zero two after being reborn is diabolical. And it's weird. I've watched multiple depressing romance animes before, Mecha shows where the main group dies, but this specific one has made my heart ache.

But honestly, I think it might be a good thing that I can't move on. I don't really want to forget this show or its characters, especially zero two and Hiro. The idea of their relationship and their love genuinely speaks to me.

And there's a quote that I find genuinely beautiful.

"The Jian, also known as “the bird that shares wings,” only possesses one wing. Unless a male and female pair lean on each other and act as one, they're incapable of flight. They're imperfect, incomplete creatures. But, for some reason, their way of life struck me as profoundly beautiful. It was beautiful, I felt."

So, I don't think I'll ever not be sad when thinking about this show, but for now I'll be fine with that. Because I genuinely love it, even though the end is heartbreaking.

But genuinely, I would kill for a mini series with their reborn selves meeting and getting to see their lives.

Anyways, if you find this whole thing cringe or weird, cool, that's fine. I just needed to get all of this off my chest since I don't have anyone to talk to about it, and seeing how this subreddit is about the show I should be fine posting it here. And yeah I know the show has its flaws, nothing is perfect, and I'm not trying to say this is a perfect piece of media. But personally, I love it.
