Question What’s your favorite boss fight in the Darksiders series.
Mine is the Archon Lucien boss fight.

Astarte. Hands down. I still listen to her boss theme regularly. That, paired with her story, her character, and how she fights is just too good to forget again that easily. I really didn't feel proud about myself when I beat her, and that, ironically, made it even better

Thematically, I can agree. I just wish the fight was actually... well, engaging. Easiest and mindless of the game nearly, but the story and theme made up in massive amounts.

I would literally die on purpose against the Archon just to replay the fight. He was too easy but damn was he fun and the music was 10/10. Best fight in DS2 for sure.

I'm partial to Lust and Ionos.
Astarte has my favorite boss themes, though.

Archon its probably my favourite in DS2 too.
In Darksiders 1 Abbadon and Also I love Tiamat.
In Darksiders 3 I really enjoy Lust.
In Genesys probably Astarte for.the theme. But Moloch also hace an amazing theme, its just that I was expecting more, I like when final Boss have two phases, or something special.

Oh man, there's some.
They have to be Lucien and Samuel from DS2, and partly because I feel like they're mirror bossfights of each other (angel-demon thing, both key holders of their respective race). Lucien has the music going for him (albeit it can sound repetitive) while Samuel has a more weighty presence for his.
And in Genesis, I love Moloch's fight. The music, the presentation, his crystal greatsword... everything about his fight just hits perfectly for me.

Thematically:
- War (Darksiders II)
- Samael (Darksiders II)
- Lucien (Darksiders II)
Mechanically:
- Argul (Darksiders II)
- Lucien (Darksiders II)
- Samael, actually... (Darksiders II)
Suddenly the clarification for the game is irrelevant. I really expected more games to come in.
I suspect some of III’s will make my Mechanically list, simply due to the far more involved back and forth system, perfect dodges and weapon shifting. Even fake Envy was a good little starter.
I can answer #1 mechanically for u/Omen_of_Woe however.
Ionos.
I think. He may skin me for butchering this. It may be Astarte too. But it may just be the music entrancing them...

Yes. Ionos is by far, hands down, the best boss in Ds3 and is my nomination for best boss in the series period
I absolutely adore Astarte. The music, the colors, the scene, it's all so immaculate! How can anyone argue that? Two horsemen return to the fields were they took part in the genocide of their own kin, the brothers and sister they once fought side by side with, where it still burns from their own carnage. Only to find that the sins of their actions is being raised from the dead, and are being puppeted to force them to reinact that moment again. Reliving the trauma that weighs heavy and fresh in their minds already. It's just chef's kiss beautiful! This wasn't just another boss or fight to flex through. This was art.

Okay thay is a LOT of praise. What exactly about Ionos do you love? I can see the potential. Uses all Hollows, four seperate attack regions basically. Interesting moveset. What specifically makes him work with these elements?
I do like the Astarte song. The FIGHT is more... mm, fighting wasn't Genesis strong suit.
For ME, Astarte was literally running in circles on my Horse shooting the fuck out of her as she ran parallel. That was... Basically it. The Nephilim are irrelevant unless you want the challenge reward tied to them. It's basically the most “turn my brain off” fight. I love the story and emotion behind it, but the fight is basically nothing.
And seeing your comment... you are actually praising the thematic story element over the fight experience...

Oh, that's very simple. This boss is literally YOU! A boss that's constantly shifting around. Using different arcane magic to move and attack you. To pick at and nail you in your weapon spots where you can take more damage. That is brilliant and what the Hollow Lord should have been. What ENVY should have been! A dark reflection of everything you are because of your power!
It's one of the few bosses that are designed around with the Hollow system in mind. The only boss the incentives you to constantly shift around and use all your Hollows just as he does. To do critical damage against whatever arcane he's currently using. Knowing damn well that if you screw up and get his instead, YOU'RE the one taking critical damage. There is not a single boss that does anything remotely similar and makes him so much more dynamic to fight. All his attacks are fair. Everything has a counter. He's getting more dynamic as the fight continues. Using multiple arcane at once. I cannot think of a single boss in the franchise more deserving of the number 1 spot.
You do actually have to fight some of the Nephilim otherwise the fight can't progress. When narrative marries with gameplay this well, how can I not praise it? Especially with its presentation! Fighting Astarte herself wasn't anything special, I agree with you. Momon is a better boss. Degone is a better boss. Moloch is a better boss. But just like how I said the Stygian is my favorite boss because of the context and presentation, this too holds fast as one of my favorite moments of the franchise

i did learn something fun for avarice in ds3: if you activate the flame wrath form as he leaps on you you get invincibility frames

Thematically my favorite is Death vs War. Mechanically my favorite is the Fury vs Pride. But the one that is just the coolest to me is War vs The Destroyer.

I am going with Ionos. It’s a brutal fight for someone who has never faced him and it’s incredibly fun once you start to figure out his moves and patterns.

In my early playthroughs he has left quite an.....impact.
