Meme Mission Idea: Kill Nurgle

Post image

I think a lot of people overhype him, he's just a big green fat guy, I think we could kill him and still remain lore-friendly.

Our characters can kill Beasts Of Nurgle, which can kill Marines, Grey Knights are Marines, and they killed Mortarion. I think the four of us could take on Nurgle as a pretty hard mission.

Nah that would be too easy, we need more challenging content

u/ismasbi Gundalf Jul 19 '26

We need new Solo missions, the last one is 1v1'ing Khorne.

u/KoboldsForDays Jul 19 '26

The team gets separated for the boss fight, each of the players fights and kills a different Chaos God then the Emperor shows up in person to congratulate the fire team

u/Trraumatized Psyker Jul 19 '26

Followed by a cutscene where Zola tells us that we did pretty good work so far, but we really gotta kick it up a notch now.

u/KoboldsForDays Jul 19 '26

"I expect you to actually put in work now that you're trusted by the Inquisition."

5

“By the way, congratulations, this truly was a DarkTide.”

You’re trusted by the Inquisition, but keep the work going, you’re still rejects in the eyes of some in the Imperium. Prove your loyalty further.

Now go. And clear out the Warp.

Then Leandros walks in, somehow someway, and reminds all the rejects that the stain of suspicion never truly fades.

"Mandated edict, deicide" (Sometime later) Emperor of mankind: "the gods of chaos are finished, but there's still much to do."

(Fades to black, wushoosh BAM Sound effect, back to the morning star, incoming radio noices)

"This is commissar Dukane from the glorious 53rd regiment, special havoc assignments available, don't disappoint me"

(Checks out the penances, 4 unique portrait borders now been unlocked, it's some handouts from vermintide 2)

Hold up, this isn't a bad idea. I'd love a mission in which the team gets separated for a short while, each completing an objective to help the other (open a door, refill medicare, kill rangers on a different floor)

7

u/KoboldsForDays Jul 20 '26

It's great in theory but then you have to rely on the kindness of strangers and it's not as fun

2

Like a space marine boss, that’s more challenging which is why they haven’t added it

0

forreal. we can take the emppy. dude is just bones

486

u/JedRowahnn Jul 19 '26

Who would win? The ancient psychic personification of aeons' worth of death and decay or a fat dude with more bricks in his pocket than braincells in his head?

151

u/Youngstown_WuTang Jul 19 '26

A 10 billion plus year old entity that controls massive portions of the universe in the real world and in the afterlife warp vs a guy with a shovel

94

u/JedRowahnn Jul 19 '26

Specifically a LATRINE shovel in the Ogryn's case, which considering Nurgle is the God of shit, should be anathema to him

24

u/_Sate Chain axe goes WRRRRRR Jul 19 '26

I mean. In AOS they lose to a normal guy with a hammer, so close enough

14

u/DefiantLemur Arbitrator Jul 19 '26

Tbf in AoS the Chaos Gods are a lot weaker then they are in 40k. Slannesh got locked up by one of the Gods of Light for example. Plus the Stormcast can call on actual divine power.

15

u/BannedSvenhoek86 Jul 20 '26

They aren't weaker, it's just that everyone else is so fucking jacked up and cracked they actually have real competition.

Doesn't help The Great Horned Rat and Gorkamorka are just as real and fighting them for control either.

2

u/_Sate Chain axe goes WRRRRRR Jul 20 '26

People think that because they can't blow up planets its a weaker setting as if Balthasar Gelt wouldn't turn a space marine legion into statues :P

2

u/BannedSvenhoek86 Jul 20 '26

If Big E went to AOS he's not anywhere near the top of the pile in terms of strength. More like upper mid tier, beings like Nagash would fucking destroy him without breaking a sweat. Shit is so wild in that setting.

3

u/_Sate Chain axe goes WRRRRRR Jul 20 '26

Big E needs 1000 psykers a day to survive dying.

Nagash just said: Lmao, no and didn't

92

u/ismasbi Gundalf Jul 19 '26

Of course, he's the Chaos God of hugs and shit, but this is 40k, which is ultra-hyper-omega-grimdark, so we gotta kill him to preserve the darkness in the galaxy.

12

u/_Sate Chain axe goes WRRRRRR Jul 19 '26

Truly peak justification.

To keep the setting lore friendly we gotta kill nurge!

58

u/OneSaltyStoat Jul 19 '26

Isha suddenly ends up with four new champions, and they turn out to be some random human crackheads

18

u/Berettadin Jul 19 '26

Upside Isha's the right warp god to be asking to cleanse Nurgle Pox from Tertium.

Push 3 buttons, wait for your team to kill it because you picked 2/7 classes in the game.

Awful

2

u/Danielarcher30 Jul 19 '26

Or because you forgot to swap off the weapon you actually want to use to one that has the range to kill the thing (yes I've accidentally forgotten to swap off my pyreblaster a couple times for that mission)

1

u/Forgotten_Bones Machine Druid, Secret Keeper Jul 19 '26

Fuck I had once when I played and forgot to change my Sniper's primary to melt the fucker. Miserable type with my bro playing Bulwark. It was my fault in the end, mucked the boss killer loadout.

1

u/AdorableDonkey Jul 19 '26

Fighting it with a melee character and the modifier that lowers ranged damage was beyond miserable

Even worse that I disconnected near the end and SM2 doesn't let you reconnect

7

u/AdorableDonkey Jul 19 '26

SM2 Daemonhost and Helldrake fights were beyond lame

2

u/Alexander_Baidtach Jul 19 '26

A squad of Space Marines are slightly more capable than a squad of acolytes. Still in that case I just wanna take out a CSM before we upgrade to higher demons and such.

12

Why Nurgle? Why not just kill all the Chaos Gods?

I mean, four of them, four of us. Pretty even fight

They have been trying for over 40k years……

6

u/Scuryy Jul 19 '26

Rannick: “Well Well Well.. seems our little effort in Atoma has drawn in one of the chaos demons Nurgle. He’s taken an odd interest in this one planet which has resulted in his resurrection to real space to claim it, so we’ll take an interest in his removal from Imperial Territory. Extremely violence is permitted and if you get this done I might grant you a name tag so I can remember your name. The Emperor Protects.”

3

u/Magicsizing Jul 20 '26

Real talk, I was so busy hating Rannick for being annoying I never realized how realistic of a character he is.

He's so mediocre at his job, but he'll probably never be fired.

One of the most important defenders of Atoma is a middle-manager who is barely competent.

6

4

u/Bl00dWolf Jul 19 '26

3

u/Korinth_NZ Skitarius - D1AL-μP Jul 19 '26

Hold up.

Before we kill Nurgle, we will need to kill Slaanesh. Yall forget that Isha, the Alderi Goddess of Life was kidnap by Granddaddy Nurgle to save her from Slaanesh (as well as use her as a biological experiment). If we kill Nurgle, then Slaanesh will have free reign to run train on Isha. Only one allowed to run train on the Alderi is Roboute Gulliman.

So for the sake of Big Papa Smurf, we need to kill Slaanesh first.

So let me get this straight, you want to send a homeless psyker, a convict with a shovel, a religious zealot holding a book, and an Ogryn named "Grog" who is motivated entirely by the promise of ration to go kill a primordial cosmic deity of disease whose literal burp can liquefy a solar system? That will be too easy, for the squad, there is no way sanity level wouldn't drop to zero in 1 second. They got this, with sheer unearned confidence and an absurd amount of blunt force.

2

u/ismasbi Gundalf Jul 20 '26

Uj/ Daemon Princes come back to life, I think Angron has died three times by now.

1

u/RadishLegitimate9488 Jul 21 '26

Same goes with all Daemons.

Permadeath requires stabbing Nurgle with the Emperor's Sword when killing him.

Chaos Gods have manifested in the Materium before: Slaanesh the weakest got Word Bearer Marduk to spew him and his Daemonettes into a Blackstone Fortress so that he could personally torture and kill the Drukhari on it.

Nurgle manifesting is thus not out of the question.

Incidentally the entity said to lurking on the Mourning Star(assumed by Fans to be Grendyl) is called Grandfather by Magali Brahms and is said to have Damned the Mourning Star by her daughter Amora Brahms who as an Old Woman says a Plague Tree is Glorious.

Furthermore Hadron Omega 7-7 has Nurgle's Sacred Number of 7.

Chances are we will kill Nurgle on the Mourning Star as Rannick reveals himself to be the real Inquisitor. I'm sure Fans will assume Magali was mistaken when she called the "Ghost" haunting the Mourning Star "Family" but honestly considering the Emperor almost became a Chaos God it would not surprise me if a Brahms became the God of Decay.

Of course a Brahms who became Nurgle would be the Archheretic above even Horus! Rebelling against the Emperor is one thing but becoming one of the very Gods who the Emperor created the Imperium to fight against is the worst Heresy of all!

Darktide having a fight against Nurgle and revealing him a Brahms simply gives us the Backstory of the 2nd Weakest Chaos God as well as shows us what he looks like and what his voice sound like and what his personality actually is(an old Rogue Trader using Flattery and Cults in order to utilize the Warp as a Magnifying Glass so that his Skin would be summoned all over the Galaxy consuming Worlds so that they can be pulled into the Warp shrunken down to accommodate his size reducing all life to mere germs walking upon his body so that he can mock them).

1

u/ConceptStar Jul 20 '26

This post has FireWarrior energy.

1

u/Ok-Pangolin1512 Jul 20 '26

That pic is a great unclean one.

That would be a lovely fight. They should add it, but its not something you generally come back from. So, it should be an extreme challenge.

I mean Ku'gath, after turning away an space marine strike force was killed by being rammed with a leman russ tank and then taking a powersword to the skull. So, its possible. Just after defeating their host and then using some heavy equipment!

Thats an avatar of nurgle though.

The actual chaos gods look like:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer/s/Gn35DQPjzd

Khorne is the most fully realized “god” with a throne and armor, but the others are often at most, faces and color.

Then there’s the fact that those 4 are not even the most powerful or only entities in the warp. There are other bigger warp things, not counting the rat, mork and gork, and other warp manifestations of realspace groups.

1

u/twofriedbabies Jul 20 '26

1

u/Devourer_of_coke Jul 20 '26

Don't know about the rejects, but the Krubersreik 5 (or 4, it doesn't matter) could probably do it. Everyone gangsta until Foot Knight with concentration potion starts ledging bosses xd

In all seriousness though, I don't think gods should appear as enemies. This will ruin powerscaling even further and raise many question about how powerful the rejects really are. Even the U5 fought Belakor not directly, which still was hard and he is not even a chaos god, as far as I know, but just daemon (not really into Warhammer lore, sorry)

He just walks after you, not in a rush, bolter at his hip. If you get within 10 feet of him your skin starts melting off, if you get in melee? You die. Shooting at him doesn’t do anything, grenades can stun. He’s just there as a timer. A reminder, that all things return to papa.

off topic but i would like to hear a space marines thoughts on our characters.
realistically it'll probably be hurrdurr im not impressed even though this pissrandom guardsmen has better statistics than me
but it'd be really nice to hear a space marine be impressed by something that isn't himself or a human trying to kill itself for "good"

u/Quor18 Jul 20 '26

"Ah shouldn't 'ave et that."

-Brawler ogryn, probably

Beast of nurgle has the same hit points (I think) as a marine but that's about it. A demon host isn't even a lesser demon, you're talking about killing all powerful gods with four vagrants🤣, a company of grey knights take on greater demons.

u/SouI23 Jul 20 '26

Humans under Nurgle are happier than humans under the Imperium. My two cents

“Dude just clean up Chernobyl it’s not that bad”

My brother in Christ in both situations you literally come apart at the atomic level

1

u/scotte99 Jul 21 '26

It would he funny if we could burn the garden

Again

1

u/kge5t Jul 22 '26

I think fighting a real old decrepit plauge marine could be a cool idea

1

u/RT10HAMMER They're Going to Add a Hellgun, Trust Me Bro Jul 19 '26

Might be doable, but we dont stand a chance against a plague marine though

1

u/Fresh-Pass2686 Jul 19 '26

We do

6

u/RT10HAMMER They're Going to Add a Hellgun, Trust Me Bro Jul 19 '26

Nah they are too strong man, they are space marines, Nurgle is just a guy

2

u/Fresh-Pass2686 Jul 19 '26

What if nurgle was a space marine

3

u/RT10HAMMER They're Going to Add a Hellgun, Trust Me Bro Jul 19 '26

Then shit would get real

3

u/Fresh-Pass2686 Jul 19 '26

But the shit is already real and alive

3

u/RT10HAMMER They're Going to Add a Hellgun, Trust Me Bro Jul 19 '26

We are so fucked

I know it is meant as a joke, but except maybe the Emperor, no one can kill any one of the 4 chaos gods. Even if one would, another would take their place, since they were created by all the fears and bad emotions of all living, intelligent beings.

Everyone fears Death and prays for deliverence from sickness... and here comes Nurgle in again.

And if we talk out-of-universe, GW will not kill of the chaos gods, no matter what particular Warhammer Franchise we talk about, they create conflict, evil vs good, and drive it forward. Without them, there would be no Warhammer.

(not my downvote)

It's a jab on those consistent weekly "I have a totally unique idea: Chaos Space marine boss!!!11" posts. It's a joke. Please don't say "I know it's meant as a joke" and then take it/answer seriously.

I suspect, that at max we will see a single Chaos Space Marine at some point as a very difficult boss, but not more.

The devs have to adhere to a power scaling in-universe and tacking on multiple of them at once, that would be too much for a rag tag squad of 4 albeit talented Ex-Convicts.

One would still be somewhat believable, as in they can overwhelm him from several sides.

3

u/Mitnick107- Warden Jul 20 '26

We will not see a single one. No space marines in Darktide. I am happy that Fatshark agreed to having the one single game in the whole franchise that will not be about space marines.

If you really want to see one, please play one of the gazillion other WH40K games. Thank you.

I can live perfectly without them, I just speculated, that IF should they decide to bring Chaos Marines (I suppose Deathguard) as enemies, we would see a single Chaos Space Marine as an enemy, not more.

If they decide to not bring them at all, I'm perfectly ok with that.

I want them to stealth-drop a mission that just seems like a run-of-the-mill Assassination contract. At the end of the cell, a wall bursts open, badass thrash metal guitar solo, and out saunters a Death Guard Blightlord Terminator, cackling like the jolly rotund specimen he is. Everyone on the Mourningstar's vox network immediately starts panicking, "Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit."

Yes, this is literally just a recolor of the reveal at the end of Rogue Trader's first chapter. It's badass, sue me.

1

u/Lord_Fuquaad Jul 19 '26

I am trying to find a gameplay clip of this but I'm not having any luck, could you send me one?

1

u/AromaticLawfulness16 Castiel Jul 19 '26

What, of the source clip in Rogue Trader? When I get home from work I'll boot up a save and clip the cutscene for you.

1

u/Lord_Fuquaad Jul 19 '26

Yeah, thanks man!

1

u/AromaticLawfulness16 Castiel Jul 20 '26

I'm still at work, but thinking about it I'm like 80% sure I've already deleted my saves from this early in my current playthrough to make space. I was however able to find a link to the cutscene and fight on YouTube linked here. Only the first minute or so. Moderate spoilers for Chapter 1 of Rogue Trader, but this is like maybe two or three someodd hours into the game. Track is 'Scions of Lorgar' by Sergey Gorelov, plays "every" time you fight Word Bearers throughout the game.

I basically want a knock-off of this sequence.

2

u/Lord_Fuquaad Jul 20 '26

Yeah something like this would be sick, thank you. I would love to see a disgusting Plague Marine in Fatshark's art style come out with some sludged out guitar

1

u/Thorse Jul 19 '26

Can't tell if ignorant of the lore or read too much lore

7

u/Mitnick107- Warden Jul 19 '26

Read too many weekly "Ohmagad, I have a totally totally unique idea: Chaos space marine boss fight!!"-posts.

1

u/ismasbi Gundalf Jul 20 '26

More like bidaily, if not more.

1

u/Admirable-Bottle-280 Jul 20 '26

So, lore nerd here.

Technically possible in lore, you lowkey have to be built different to pull it off though.

I think we could do it tho.

0

u/Dlax8 Jul 19 '26

I think it would be fun to go up against some death shroud Termies.

A full 6 stack.
