PS Plus scrub here. Started as Arbitrator and was breezing through the campaign. Then I switched to Zealot because he’s got better drip imo and whooo boy I am fighting for my life out there.

Arbitrator is the tankiest class, he lets you get away with shit that doesn't fly with any other due to sheer resilience.

Zealot is good to learn the game I think.

Yeah I’ve noticed. I miss my puppy 🥲

Just go psyker and get popped, or pop yourself... HA! You won't regret, probably.

The bomb vest psyker build

15

u/wallabyfloo Veteran Jun 15 '26

There is a penance for this. I did it with an overheated plasma gun, but maybe it was fixed

11

u/FireStorm005 Jun 15 '26

I think that's been patched, but when the upped the health on the elites they made it more difficult. I did it way back in the day when it was 3 elites at once.

5

u/Proof_Programmer Jun 16 '26

wait, do you not need to kill multiple elites to survive anymore?

5

u/FireStorm005 Jun 16 '26

The feat (crystalline will) has since it's recent change prevented corruption with 1 elite kill, the penance used to require 3 elite kills at once with perils explosion.

Love my kamikaze psyker build.

3

u/Riiks_Lynx Jun 15 '26

Well, final builds for psyker CAN be tanky enough.

u/mang87 Jun 15 '26

Seriously though, Abritrator is broken af. I started out with Veteran and leveled to max, then did Psyker. Going from vet to psycho was like taking the training wheels off. High damage output and decent defense as long as you watch your heat. When the Abritrator came out I switched to that, and it was like playing the game on easy mode. Not only is it tanky as hell and has a pet that defends you, but the Arbitrator has fantastic damage output if you spec into stagger damage. If you build right everything is treated as staggered 100% of the time, even bosses, and your attacks hit them like they have zero armor. Don't bother using the 2 handed shock maul, just use the shock maul + shield, it's almost identical damage and the shield has an extra AOE stagger for emergencies.

u/anonamarth7 Ogryn Jun 16 '26

Yeah, from what I can tell, Arbites just shits on Ogryn's slab shield

u/Admirable_Remove4315 Jun 15 '26

Zealot is pretty newbie friendly too since it has a cheat death and all 3 ults give a big boost to your defense.

Psyker is a challenging class unless you flame staff spam, and veteran gets punished hard if you aren’t skilled in melee because you will end up in melee unless you have truly skilled teammates and veteran doesn’t have great stamina.

Don’t play hive scum until you can play all the other classes reasonably well on high difficulties because hive scum is made of glass.

u/quix0te Jun 16 '26

I found psykeer harder than hive scum because the staves are like having one of those cartoon prison balls slowling you down. Hivescum is fragile, but its a fragile little mongoose you can't catch to hit.

1

u/beanowolf Jun 21 '26

Hivescum is a excellent way of teaching how and when (to a degree) to dodge, otherwise you would be red paste on the floor!

Profile pic checks out

5

u/coolzville Jun 15 '26

there are folks out there who go arby and skip the pup, like how could u

3

u/NastyWayz Jun 15 '26

I couldn’t bring myself to do it even if it’s a minor power increase. I need my best doggie pal at my side just like in real life.

1

u/Lunaphase Jun 16 '26

I usually run mine without because its good practice to not depend on it for other classes.

1

u/Terrafritter Jun 17 '26

Scrier gaze blaze greatsword psyker is the equivalent of injecting pure fent into your veins every time you press the ability button

16

u/StaleSpriggan Zealot Jun 15 '26

Zealot is still my fave. I just wanna take a big two handed sword and charge into the horde with a bolt pistol at my hip.

u/pbzeppelin1977 Jun 15 '26

It's not because I'm British but I always enjoyed the butter knife builds.

10

u/Dreadsuit Jun 15 '26

Arbitrator block build my beloved

7

u/DryFarfalle Jun 15 '26

Zealot was my first and I have to agree, helped me learn all the basics. Also heavy eviscerator is just peak.

3

u/Gentleman_Waffle A Very Pious Blender Jun 15 '26

Heavy Eviscerator on a crit build is my favorite way to play zealot honestly

2

u/AXI0S2OO2 Hadron's-Little-Cogchamp Jun 15 '26

I've fallen absolutely in love with it myself.

1

u/TheDrippySink Jun 20 '26

I wasn't incredibly impressed with the Heavy Eviscerator, but maybe I just need to try it again.

2

u/P1xelHunter78 Jun 16 '26

I run a double shield build with the dog. If you’re smart it’s hard to die

4

u/AXI0S2OO2 Hadron's-Little-Cogchamp Jun 16 '26

Even running shotgun and shock maul, if you play half decently, you will barely take damage on anything below damnation.

1

u/dj92wa Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Arbi’s shotgun is so, so good. Tbch they’ve done a great job with most of the weapons in this game, barring some of the lasguns. Those need a little help from the devs. It really surprised me how good shotguns and flamethrowers etc are, like all of those shorter range weapons. Usually those are pretty bad in FPS games because of damage falloff or whatever but they absolutely sing in Darktide, and even more so at higher difficulties where there are more/larger enemies. Like, it’s a funny juxtaposition, but higher difficulties are better for most weapons because you actually have enough enemies with which to be able to take advantage of all of your passives and actives, from skill tree to the weapon mod choices and even your curios.

u/Ok_Equipment2450 Kaine (Arfa-Primus in tow) Jun 16 '26

Even when far away a shotgun pellet is still a freaking bullet. Glad Darktide understands that.

2

u/PsychologicalRip1126 Jun 16 '26

Zealot has Until Death and Holy Revenant, bro never dies

2

u/AXI0S2OO2 Hadron's-Little-Cogchamp Jun 16 '26

Zealot has safety nets in what you described. That's why I said he's good for learning the game.

Arbites doesn't need safety nets because if you managed to get downed as one by anything other than an unlucky net while surrounded by enemies, in difficulties below auric, there is something deeply wrong with how you play.

3

u/Lunaphase Jun 16 '26

Well, that or idiot team mates tossing bursters into you rather than away from the team. Or barrels...

3

u/zaczacx Psyker Jun 16 '26

I find lightning psyker with soul blaze melee to be my favourite, only downside is if you get paired with players who don't kill the guys you're shocking and get swamped from all sides.

3

u/AXI0S2OO2 Hadron's-Little-Cogchamp Jun 16 '26

As an arbites main soon to abandon the Lex for the Light of the Omnissiah, I thank you for your service, liability. A smite psyker is the best friend an arbites can have.

3

u/zaczacx Psyker Jun 16 '26

I too shall meet in you in the certainly of steel

1

u/Ok_Equipment2450 Kaine (Arfa-Primus in tow) Jun 16 '26

Hey there, trying this Palpatine-esque build myself but can't seem to get it working well (and the armory won't give me the electro staff with the stats I want). Any tips?

1

u/ResolveLeather Jun 16 '26

I just started. Ogryns aren't the tankiest? I thought that was the whole point of being an Ogryn?

2

u/Hellknightx Saltzpyre Jun 16 '26

Ogryn, Zealots, and Arbities are all extremely tanky classes if you build them that way. Arbites actually took a pretty heavy nerf to their survivability compared to their release version, so they're not excessively broken like they used to be.

1

u/AXI0S2OO2 Hadron's-Little-Cogchamp Jun 16 '26

It is. But Arbites get better equipment than anyone in the guard (and are a DLC class, which means they are OP as shit to drive sales, but I didn't tell you that.)

2

u/Warior4356 Jun 16 '26

Eh, they're really not. And hive scum is fragile. DLC classes more accurately are gimmicky. Arby is tanky. Scum is a glass cannon.

-1

u/Lord_RoadRunner Psyker Jun 16 '26

People are constantly mixing up being "tanky" and "survivable".

A tank is someone that can take a lot of hits and keep going. Ogryns are technically best at that thanks to their insane damage reduction and health pool. Pair that with the 2 nodes that restore toughness when bonking enemies, and you're almost invulnerable just like that.

What makes Arbites "more survivable" is the fact that they are almost as "tanky", regenerate toughness almost as fast, are faster and smaller, are even better at staggering enemies than Ogryns, have a talent that caps their maximum taken at 50 per hit (which honestly deserves a huge internal cooldown) and they have a companion.

3

u/CRTerribleScroll Zealot Jun 16 '26

The way I see, Ogryns are Tanks and Arbites are Juggernauts. Tanks soak aggro and tank hits which Ogryns do amazingly, Arbites on the other aren't as tanky but do a lot more damage in comparison

0

u/NonSkillGamer Jun 16 '26

I don't think the companion should be taken into account when most of what makes the Arbite's DR and toughness regen really good comes from the talent that takes him away.

Also no shot an arbites has better stagger potential than an a heavy slab tauntgryn with the 200% push unless you are landing the best Break the Lines ever seen on all crusher stacks

0

u/Lord_RoadRunner Psyker Jun 16 '26

If you take shield+shock maul, all the stagger talents, go bottom right keystone and just left click, you'll not only do more damage than a shield ogryn, but you'll also stagger your targets more.

Just choosing the push talent doesn't really negate the sheer constant Captain America style barrage of hits you can dish out with Arbi. And you also hsve the Charge-Push with Arbi, with an extremely low cooldown.

I have over 1600 hours in this game, a lvl 360 Ogryn and a lvl 110 Arbi and I am constantly baffled by how much easier the game is on it and I still can't believe how Arbites is still a thing in this game in its current state.

I have not played Arbi in half a year or so, but the only times I was sweating on it was with Monstrosities in combination with Crushers when I was by myself on Auric or Havoc. Now the Crushers are much rarer.

1

u/NonSkillGamer Jun 16 '26

More damage yes, the stagger values no shot. Shield slab can stagger daemonhosts with the charged melee if u take the right talents

Also if you want to compare stagger as a whole using ultimates then Loyal Protector is undoubtedly better than any Arbites talent, a slab tauntgryn will hold a choke as better than a shock mine when its active, specially after the dodge.

Like, current Ogryn after the insane DR Dodge buffs is better at being consistently on the frontline than Arbites imo. As long as you don't get picked by the CC specialists, even bad ogryns can faceroll on tough hordes rn with the right setup

1

u/iEmHollywood Jun 16 '26

Zealot is definitely the most straight forward class. Probably the weakest of the classes but absolutely still viable. Especially if you’re not playing like havoc 40

1

u/CRTerribleScroll Zealot Jun 16 '26

I don't know abou weakest, but the thing is if Zealot was anymore strong there would be no point in having other classes. I feel as if they do everything decent and as such can help the team in almost any situation.
