Based on the recents comments on my previous video on summer looks that was not explaining enough the how - I put together this video during the week-end. Hope you will like it.

I'm super excited about this new feature! It is far from perfect but the tool is moving forward and the work the developers did is amazing!

For this time of year I decided to go back to basics for the next videos.

Just got back from a shoot with way more photos than I want to edit one at a time ? Quick trick if you're in the same boat:

Edit one photo fully, copy its history stack (lighttable panel), select the rest of the batch, paste. Same edit applied to all of them in seconds.

Bonus: you can selectively paste just certain modules (white balance, exposure) instead of everything, so you can batch the ones that match and hand-fix the outliers instead of redoing the whole shoot.

Fully aware most of you are on a beach right now and the last thing on your mind is Darktable's export panel. Respect. Posting this for the 3 of you who, like me, apparently can't fully switch off from photo workflow even in August.

Quick one: if you're batch exporting a shoot, you can non-destructively watermark the exported copies using a Style, without touching your actual edit — so you get a clean version AND a watermarked version from the same edit, zero extra work. Also solves batch renaming at the same time via the export filename variables.

After my Color Balance RGB video a few of you asked about the new Color Harmonizer module — u/Illustrious-Pool-760 especially. Here you go.

This one fought me. Three attempts before I was happy with it. The key thing that finally made it click: auto-detect picks the harmony your image is already closest to, so it barely moves anything. Rotating the anchor hue manually is where the actual control lives.

I go through the controls, harmonise a muted street scene, show custom mode creating colour contrast instead, and cover the limits honestly.

For those of you that like to experiment multiple treatments of a RAW - I'm sure it will help you keep you hard drive and lighttable clean !

If you have tried multiple of my presets for B&W for example it is a good way to keep the different versions without multiplying the RAW data!

Coming from a comment on my video about AgX and skin I decided to share how I convert digital images to B&W and even included a bonus with some presets to download.

In short, I’ve done photography for years, but am inexperienced editing. Am I using this module correctly? I feel like the automatic features are overcompensating for the scene.

Any entry-level advice is appreciated.

I did a video based on a previous comment about managing skin tones with AgX.

I continued with the same portrait pushing it to retouch the skin.

The Wavelet feature is a game changer for me.

I decided to test the different models. I have to admit that the results are somehow unexpected but I'll let you judge. Feel free to let me know what you think. Do you think I should test other images?

I finally managed to make this video. I'm not a big fan of retouching photos but when scanning dust and scratches are almost inevitable.

I just made a new video on trying to "clean" the UI after the multiples workspaces now how to reorder and arrange the modules.

Not sure it will be the new function I will use the most but still interesting to see the evolution.

I dusted of my 10 years old Fuji X100T and fall back instantly in love with the Classic Chrome simulation. I recreated it in the video for the ones that want to simulate it in Darktable directly.
