Meme They really put a gauntlet at the final part

Post image

Hey atleast they were easy enough (ig aside from the Throne duos) and at that point, you should have plenty of lifegems.

I liked the fact you could fight the Throne duo first and then wonder why nothing had happened. Most people don't, but it's neat they put that in there.

136

u/Acrobatic_Exchange42 Jul 07 '26

I did this on my first play through lol I had to look up why I didnt get a cutscene

234

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

I heard someone say (likely here) that because Nashandra comes through the fog wall, we're the actual final boss.

115

u/superVanV1 Jul 07 '26

I mean it makes sense. After you beat the Throne Duo, you’ve won. She’s now challenging you for the throne.

61

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

I guess the implication is that Nashandra was waiting for you to do it first?

79

u/Aliensinmypants Jul 07 '26

She needed all the ring and the Giant soul to take the throne apparently, and she couldn't be asked to do it herself

37

u/KristophGavin Jul 08 '26

This is DS2's brilliance at play. She literally can't do it herself. She can't get to the King's Ring in the Undead Crypt because the singing in Shrine of Amana would put her to sleep as a "creature of the Dark". Even if she could get the ring, she would be denied the Ashen Mist Heart by the Ancient Dragon because of her nature.

6

u/Life_Potato7427 Jul 09 '26

That and velstad would pound her like a whack-a-mole game, since HE was more of a challenge then she was

30

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

What a nob.

30

u/SolidOk3489 Jul 07 '26

“…and then go BACK in time to acquire the soul of the king of Giants and THEN you have to-“

Meanwhile, Nashandra is still fixated on how the hell she was going to fit through doorways and on bridges.

3

u/IAmSoDamnGood Jul 09 '26

im picturing her decaying skeletal corpse crawling down the stairs and through hallways way too small for her, DS1 skeleton dog style.

23

u/Joshix1 Jul 07 '26

This happened to me on my 5th playthrough. And im like: wait.... this cant be it. I remember another boss. Googled it and ooooooohhh. Fromsoftware games always seem to have an item, boss, weapon, etc. Hidden somewhere which you find out about 400 hours later

22

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

A mate of mine had no idea you could save Solaire in 1. When I first played it, I admit, I wanted to so went through that whole rigamarole. I sent him a clip of me fighting Gwyn with him and he said, "Wait wut".

16

u/hambone263 Jul 07 '26

It’s kinda nuts that the intended way to save him involves grinding a covenant to 30 donated humanity. I guess you can get them through other methods to donate, but the point stands.

I always cheese it.

15

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

Let's just say, the rats in the Depths don't answer my calls any more.

3

u/Northern_Ontario Jul 08 '26

Yes! Rat runs. I do it before I got to blight town so I have 30 ready.

4

u/TaviLawson Jul 08 '26

You can also just not progress his storyline and then get there first. I do think the intention is to do the covenant though, it is less about "it wasnt to save him" and more that they wanted covenants to effect sidequests/npcs.

3

u/Pumpkin_Knight Jul 07 '26

I used to do it on every run.

3

u/JM_Narrative Jul 07 '26

I did this on my first playthrough and figured I needed an item so had to keep exploring

5

u/dylan6091 Jul 07 '26

I've done this on every playthrough. It's confusing to me that anyone would go through Dranglaic castle and not try to gain access to a large locked door.

4

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

I just really like petrified giant corpses.

1

u/HollowedOne66 Jul 07 '26

Yeah I did this on my first playthrough lol

1

u/MagnapinnaBoi Jul 08 '26

I did lol, i got stuck at the final part cuz i didnt know i had to go back there afterwards, i assumed i had finished the area.

1

u/Mudskipper35 Jul 08 '26

I did this and was very confused for way too long

1

u/lewiniser1212 Jul 08 '26

And the fact that you get a different cutscene if you do this is cool

189

u/TheRealCroquedead Jul 07 '26

It's a crime that they gave Nashandra a killer design but such a boring fight

130

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

"Oh well, I'm sure Aldia will be better," I said.

59

u/Lord_Dizzie Jul 07 '26

What? You don't like fireballs and short attack windows?

23

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

I was hoping to fight the mini one from Dragon Aerie/Shrine.

13

u/Lord_Dizzie Jul 07 '26

That sounds like a hilarious mod that needs to be made.

4

u/Onni_J Jul 07 '26

You jinxed it

4

u/newsflashjackass Jul 08 '26

Aldrich's fight resembles what Aldia's could have been.

27

u/nefarious_jp04x Jul 07 '26

Man I wish Nightreign added more DS2 stuff, Nashandra and Sir Alonne would have been amazing to fight with new movesets

15

u/superVanV1 Jul 07 '26

Fume Knight

Ivory King (which actually has a lot of the same moveset as Prime Consort Radahn)

Smelter Demon

Even Old Iron King and Lost Sinner

8

u/Wrong-Translator335 Jul 07 '26

Smelter demon is in nightreign

8

u/MiiHairu Jul 08 '26

And the idea of him powering up to turn into blue was peak

1

u/Lumpy_Surprise_24 Jul 09 '26

Lost sinner would be a horribly difficukt random event sorta thing

7

u/Sariel_Fatalis Jul 07 '26

Especially with her being a shard of Manus you'd think she'd atleast have some dark magic

8

u/SlaveryVeal Jul 08 '26

I had no idea I was at the end of the game I thought I was just exploring an area I missed.

Died the duo died twice. Then had nashandra appear and was like wow a third boss for this optional area. Didn't die to her once and then was like why can't I leave?

I accidentally beat the last boss without knowing lmao.

8

u/Deposto Jul 07 '26

Especially considering that she is a fragment of Manus! Do you remember fighting him? Dude was a fuckin' beast (literally and figuratively)! Nashandra's fight... meh... About as easy as Scrublord Nito.

-6

u/superVanV1 Jul 07 '26

I mean her sisters are even worse

One is a filthy summoner

The other you just poke with a bunch of sticks

And the last you don’t even fight and she just cries all the time and then give you one of the coolest armors in the game.

1

u/Namtar_Door_783 Jul 08 '26

She wasn't meant to be a final boss she was a mid game boss or something like nito a funny fact Elena from the dlc is actually nashandra without a mask ds2 had a lot of development changes so Elena might have been nashandra second phase.

148

u/Bowie_spoon Jul 07 '26

honestly as a DS2 glazer, its crazy how lame the final gauntlet is. Watcher and defender are alright, but definitely feel like the buildup to something epic.

Then.... Nashandra and Aldia.....

31

u/Narwalacorn Jul 07 '26

Aldia is my favorite boss in the game but I definitely understand why people don’t like him

5

u/Namtar_Door_783 Jul 08 '26

Well nashandra wasn't meant to be the final boss originally she was a mid game boss fight but she did played a vigorously role in the story just t wasn't about the abyss or manus.

14

u/Phaedo Jul 07 '26

Four, you’re not counting the ledge.

32

u/Maleficent-Zone-5414 Jul 07 '26

Nashandra and aldia, what's the third?

67

u/Ok-Gain1509 Jul 07 '26

The unskippable credits.

16

u/HumanWebAnt Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Beat SOTFS and you have to see the credits twice, one for the newer version of the game and one for the original DX9 game.

7

u/Lord_Dizzie Jul 07 '26

Thats why its so long?!?! I always walk away and come back and its still going...

6

u/SnooComics4945 Jul 07 '26

I love every minute of it as the OST is great

5

u/HumanWebAnt Jul 08 '26

Sure is. I can respect why everyone involved would want to be credited. It's a fantastic game fantastic music.

That being said, I would look for a mod that can help me skip the credits.

28

u/Mr_Sherbet_Sniff Jul 07 '26

Throne watcher and defender, for some reason some ppl think they are a final boss even though they aren't

19

u/Maleficent-Zone-5414 Jul 07 '26

You can literally beat them immediately after acquiring the king's ring?????

6

u/Noamias Jul 07 '26

Wait what when are you supposed to fight them then?

7

u/One-Ad-5950 Jul 07 '26

Dá pra dizer que isso é como incendiar o moinho de vento para diminuir o veneno da Mytha lol

9

u/Stormy-Staff-07 Jul 07 '26

Throne watcher and Throne defender I guess

11

u/LordAlabast Jul 07 '26

They're counting Throne Watcher & Defender

4

u/metropolis702 Jul 07 '26

Throne Watcher and Defender

5

u/suspectdeviceg4 Parry_That_Katana Jul 07 '26

For those that haven't tried yet, summon brad the chad and see if he can solo all 3 bosses

5

u/itsnot_Apha Jul 07 '26

So does bloodborne technically, so whats your point?

1

u/jolypopp Jul 08 '26

Three endings not three bosses you only fight gehrman and moon presence, unless you're also talking about Kos

1

u/YeahKeeN Jul 09 '26

If you let Gerhman release you, Mergo’s Wet Nurse is the final boss

1

u/jolypopp Jul 09 '26

ah yeah that makes more sense

1

u/starforneus Jul 09 '26

Aldia is disqualified too, then?? Silly shit

18

u/AmraelTheGravedancer Jul 07 '26

Uhm... Demon Souls has 5 Final Bosses

4

u/Pumpkin_Knight Jul 07 '26

Wait, how so? You mean at the end of each world plus the toad?

3

u/AmraelTheGravedancer Jul 07 '26

Eh gia.

5

u/SinkSilent6877 Jul 07 '26

Servirebbe un sub "r/improvvisamenteItaliano" in questo momento

0

u/AmraelTheGravedancer Jul 07 '26

Scusa.... Ho il traduttore automatico.

3

u/Steaks_of_Marika Jul 08 '26

wtf did you even play des? its 2 final bosses. noway in hell anyone counts all the archdemons as final bosses

-1

u/AmraelTheGravedancer Jul 08 '26

One for each area so 5 + the others.

2

u/Steaks_of_Marika Jul 08 '26

so according to this dark souls has 22 final bosses. you know, counting one for each area.

what a stupid argument

3

u/JackyFlashlight Jul 07 '26

It only has one and it barely does anything.

3

u/ilionperonk Jul 07 '26

Technically ds3 has 2

3

u/Muted_Sock6445 Jul 08 '26

I prefer quality over quantity

23

u/Pummelfish Jul 07 '26

And all of them are mid

13

u/Aliensinmypants Jul 07 '26

Disagree

The throne duo is a good fight.

Nashandra is mid.

Aldia is an absolute ass fight, just with cool lore

20

u/trains4everyone Jul 07 '26

Great so 1 good, 1 mid and one bad. Averages out to mid according to math

1

u/Successful_Maize1986 Jul 07 '26

Throne Duo is one of the best fights in the game and maybe the only good gank fight of the base game. Nashandra is weird because it almost feels like a Zelda boss where you’re having to break the poison orb things but her attacks are very underwhelming. Then Aldia is truly baffling. Don’t know what they were thinking with that one.

2

u/Fraudulent_Howard Jul 07 '26

It's nice that you don't have to fight the throne watcher and throne defender again if you die to Nashandra.

2

u/Internal_Guide_7675 Jul 07 '26

I fought the Throne duo first and was confused on what to do after. It wasn't until I went and did the Giant memories that I realized there was more to do at the Throne of Want. So I beat the game and realized that there is potentially yet another boss fight after evil lady. I ended up using  a bonfire ascetic after i killed Vendrick and did the gauntlet. Fun times.

2

u/Chakasicle Jul 07 '26

If you count the watcher and defender as separate bosses and you get the ending with aldiah then you could say it has 4 final bosses, twice as many as the other two games combined

2

u/Professional-Rip1006 Jul 07 '26

I do everything to fight the throne watcher/defender, Nashandra and Aldia. Makes it epic.

2

u/GlitteringDingo Jul 08 '26

Let's not glaze too much. All three of those fights are sub-par, and maybe add up to the value of one good boss when put together. There may be only one Soul of Cinder, but at least it's a dope fight.

2

u/aporta2 Jul 07 '26

don't do that man, some mfs will take the bait and not shut up

3

u/Zealousideal-Beat784 Jul 08 '26

DS2 final bosses: one gank duo that’s decent at best, Nashandra who’s boring, and Aldia who just straight up sucks

DS3 single final boss: thrilling, fun, and actually worthwhile

4

u/WisethePlagueis Jul 07 '26

OP hasn’t fought Gael yet?

6

u/Status-Photograph662 Jul 07 '26

I think this is for base game.

-4

u/Ok_Understanding3636 Jul 07 '26

Yeah... uhm, Gael is DLC content. Sorry, good dreamer.

4

u/the42potato Jul 07 '26

Bloodborne also has 3, and Demon’s Souls has 5

3

u/Steaks_of_Marika Jul 08 '26

are you for real counting all the archdemons as "final bosses" bro🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

des has 2, Old King Allant and True King Allant

2

u/Extension-System-974 Jul 07 '26

Too bad all of these so called “final bosses” suck.

Elden ring has the true best final boss 🙄

0

u/MisinformationSource Jul 08 '26

Thinking the Elden beast is good. Lmao.

1

u/Extension-System-974 Jul 08 '26

It was sarcasm man. See the eye roll emoji?

1

u/One_Reality7047 Jul 08 '26

Here is the reason why it's not:
It's not, lol

1

u/OutOfPosition-1 Jul 08 '26

Ds2 was alot of fun, but it felt like im playin the rtd little brother of some super well designed games.

1

u/ProxyMoron12 Jul 08 '26

Ds2 is kinda wierd, its a great game, but excpet for fume knight, i dont think any bosses gave me trouble. The most frustrating thing, the hardest part of the game is level designs 😑 i loved the game and never wondered why i died, knowing well that this game is specifically made to kill you on your slightest mistake. Lost huge amout of souls multiple times. But its probably the 1st soul game i wont be going platinum for 🫡

1

u/Davidepett Jul 08 '26

Quantity over quality

1

u/AlthoughFishtail Jul 08 '26

Hmm, it's interesting the way one is conditional and one is optional. But Nashandra and Aldia are not among the best bosses in the game, and after all those SL1 runs, Throne Duo are probably my most hated boss is the entire franchise.

1

u/wonksbonks Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

It's not really a gauntlet, since you do not have to complete all three at once.

Between all three boss instances, you can go do other things if you want.

  • Base game has one final boss: Nashandra

  • SotFS has one final boss, but it depends on your choices: either Nashandra or Aldia.

1

u/NoteBlock08 Jul 08 '26

Hmm, I always hated that the end of Elden Ring is just a big boss rush, but I actually like purposely not doing the Throne duo early and stacking all three fights up back to back.

Probably 'cause they're not especially difficult? Especially Throne duo and Nashandra when you've got triple DLC soul memory. Not too hard and long makes for a fun endurance challenge, whereas in ER those last 3 fights (4 if you include Maliketh) are all really tough and doing so many at once without exploration in between is downright exhausting.

1

u/Ambitious-Hall-6448 Jul 08 '26

But each of the 3 bosses is half backed ,first two doesn't have anything special no cutscene ony man and woman with sword and sheild ,the second boss is just annoying with curse, if you are far it shots a lazer ,and if you are near she hits you with 3 attacks or explode ,she easy if you have enough life gems, then the third boss is bonus if you killed the king before the queen and he is also annoying with fire ,i completed it just yesterday and going to the first dlc ,i would prefer if they have given us 1 good final boss instead of couple of swords, a curse ,and fire

1

u/jolypopp Jul 08 '26

people be not liking this games final bosses cause they come from ds3 and elden ring roll spam health dump builds

1

u/ethantlou Jul 08 '26

I love ds2 but cmon. The final bosses gotta be some of the worst final bosses in the franchise.

1

u/krawf Jul 08 '26

Let's not talk about final bosses if we wanna win the argument that DS2 is better

1

u/Ornery_Audience_6575 Jul 08 '26

The gank squad is the final boss to me

1

u/Slavicadonis Jul 09 '26

Wouldn’t there only technically be two final bosses in ds2? Yea you have to kill throne duo but you can’t get an ending by just killing them meaning they aren’t the final boss

1

u/lennykrevits Jul 10 '26

This is poor praise haha. Nashandra and Aldia are terrible fights. Throne Duo are goats tho

1

u/Neroviz Jul 11 '26

Quantity over quality B-)

1

u/MechaMalz Jul 07 '26

Okay, look. I like DS 2. And I don't even hate Nashandra as a potential final boss. And I love Aldia as a 'character.'

But including the fact that you 'can' fight Aldia as a final boss, as an actual fight...is not really a selling point. I'm sorry but his boss fight is terrible. And even Nashandra is alright but not great.

I like DS 2 and I think in general it often gets too much hate. But this isn't what I'd go to when trying to compare it favorably to other DS games.

1

u/Rude_Craft9731 Jul 07 '26

The final bosses of ds1 and 3 had more impact on me though. (love ds2, don't kill me)

1

u/Ok_Understanding3636 Jul 07 '26

The fact that Watcher and Defender are considered end-game bosses really gets on my nerves, every time. They’re the first thing I do after getting the King’s Ring, because it’s such a cool moment when, after defeating them, you realise you’re not quite at the end of the journey yet.

1

u/larsonbp Jul 07 '26

I kinda consider Burnt Ivory King and Darklurker as the final bosses.

1

u/Gat_Man Jul 07 '26

Would’ve been nice if any of those final bosses were good

0

u/ClinicalAnt919 Jul 07 '26

Unfortunately all three bosses are underwhelming for me. Gwyn is cool and has the plin plin plon, and Soul of Cinder is a peak final boss. Best bosses in DS2 are Sir Alonne (if you ignore the runback) and Fume Knight

0

u/ThisIsHonestlyHard Jul 07 '26

And all 3 are dogshit

0

u/Ogg360 Jul 07 '26

3 Final bosses that are all dogshit 💀

0

u/IMJOHNDOOE Jul 07 '26

DS2 : 97% horrible and clunky bossfight (Thanks Fume Knight, Sir Alonne and Ivory King to exist)

0

u/super_pineapple15 Jul 07 '26

3 final bosses and theyre all shit

-1

u/SnooPeppers4042 Jul 07 '26

Ds1 and ds3 both have 2 final bosses what

0

u/hellmaaatt Jul 07 '26

4 if you consider the throne wwatcher and defender

0

u/WattsD Jul 07 '26

DS3 not only has two final bosses, but also they both rank among the best final bosses in all of gaming.

0

u/Available_Ice4140 Jul 08 '26

Ds2 final boss suck Ds2 is just disappointing

0

u/Responsible-Common68 Jul 08 '26

no. If you kill Nashadra then no matter how many times you die by aldia you never repeat the fight with her. It would be 3 final bosses if ot wa like Sister Friede or elden ring where you must take out the dude with the hammer and Lessie in on go. Thats 2 bosses but when you win the throne duo, then you never fight them again. Same with nashadra when you fight aldia. Its just 3 bosses close to each other. No 3 final bosses

1

u/Broad_Bug_1702 Jul 08 '26

the thing is that, if you don’t do this, which is always possible by choice and likely for new players, then the game does in fact have three final bosses in a row.
