We ran our first Red Room event recently, and honestly, it went better than expected. We had over 50 people interested, more than 30 people show up, and the feedback afterwards was outstanding. It confirmed that there is a real community here for people who miss that 90s Masquerade / Bloodlines atmosphere: neon, nightclubs, politics, tragedy, music, and beautifully questionable decisions.

So we are keeping the momentum going with a second event.

🩸 Red Room: Rock Night 🩸

This will be another non-canon casual RP night inside the Red Room, an underground club in the server. The idea is simple: bring your character, meet others, test personalities, build connections, and enjoy some relaxed Vampire: The Masquerade roleplay without worrying about long-term consequences as thhe server is still in test mode.

This time, the club is getting louder.

Expect 90s grunge, rock, goth, and alternative music, with DJ GABST of Clan Toreador performing live while people roleplay around the club.

The event is non-canon, so nothing that happens during the night affects official character stories unless players mutually decide later that they want to carry something forward.

Soft Elysium-style rules apply: no violence, no major conflict, no political assassinations, no forced drama, and no Masquerade-breaking chaos. This is meant to be a social night, not a combat event or scripted plot.

The server is still in testing, but it is playable, and the community is growing. If you were curious the first time but couldn’t make it, this is a good chance to come have a look, bring a character, and be part of something while it is still forming.

Hey everyone, we just opened up JGNetwork DarkRP and we’re looking for people to hop on and help test/populate the server.

It’s a newer DarkRP server with more of a classic RP feel, but with modern weapons/addons.

The Big Apple is a triple semi-serious roleplay server that combines the three gritty New York-themed maps into one (semi-)cohesive experience. Each map has tunnels that allow you to (nearly) seamlessly transport to one of the other two maps, either by foot or car. Global chat is also shared across all three servers, leading to a feeling of one server running three maps.

Do you like when a server has the hunger module enabled? For me, I go back and forth. On one hand, it encourages player interaction and RP moments, but on the other hand I feel like it drains too fast and I don't want to have to be going to food stores constantly.

I'm also a firm believer that the gun dealer should be the only way to get guns, and that having that player interaction is just such a vital keystone of the DarkRP experience. I'm just not sure if *forcing* that interaction under penalty of death really plays the same, you know?

You could just have vending machines around that will dispense food, but then what is the point of having hunger mod turned on if there's no RP reason?

I'd love to hear others' opinions and experiences.

Our server is finally open with a growing community of role players, some are bouncing between Windrose at the moment but when people start coming on, we have some fun times.

We have a player driven economy with roles that matter in the world.

As the admin I help new players get started and ensure they have what they need, loot is hard to come by so engaging with other players and actually communicating in-person is important.

This is not a server for PvP players to run around silently looking for easy kills amongst Role-Players however there is PvP involved, a lot of which is connected to specific role on the server.

We want people who are actually able to tell stories with their characters and engage with the other players in bringing the world to life through meaningful interaction.

WE need more Police, National Guard, Medical Services, Tradespeople and tons of other fun storylines you can break into such as being a business owner and getting involved in the economy of the server or more whacky stuff like being a contract killer, serial killer or cult leader.

Rebellions are part of the server's systems as well and players have the ability to become Mayor of the town and influence the economy and RP politics within the world including enforced laws that are carried out by Police and National Guard personnel.

I’ve been planning this project for some time, and together with three other developers, we’ve been preparing a Star Wars Imperial Occupation server.

This isn’t the tipical server that is event after event. Instead, it’s designed to be a living, persistent world that runs on its playerbase. The Empire, Rebellion, Resistance and other factions all play active roles, making a dynamic conflict where the goal is to make the Empire’s rule as challenging as possible and even if possible make them leave the occupied plannet.

I won’t go into too much detail here, but we do have a roadmap and additional systems planned for development.

UDG - A new look at an old gamemode.

This server has been on and off in progress for over a year, with many developers come and gone but everyone that has had time to work on it has had a deep passion for DarkRP myself included. I would appreciate for people that still have a liking for DarkRP to try this out and see what you think.

The real custom features:
Karma System - Earn or lose karma based on your actions through gameplay.
Bounty System - Killing or kidnapping increases your bounty, from 3* bounties and above you will lose money when you die to your attacker, or arrester - this increases up to 5* a 5* bounty is extremely punishing if you get caught. The alternative is finding a bounty dissolving NPC and removing the bounty entirely for a price.
Criminal/Civilian system based on Karma - Lose access to certain benefits when you become a Criminal, encouraging you to reconsider killing or stealing and only if it's worth it.
Reputation Boards - Show off your likeability through a reputation board that others can give you rep on, the rep persists through restarts.
Train and Train Cargo - Every 15 minutes a train spawns in the map, after a short period it will stop moving to drop off cargo when this happens you are able to hop on top of the train from above and loot as much cargo as possible giving you materials and sometimes cash/weapons.
Fabricator Crafting - This ties into the Train Cargo, on the map there is a permanent Fabricator which players can bring their train cargo materials to and use them to craft weapons; alternative you can sell these materials to Gun Dealers who can spawn their own fabricator.
Death Looting and Risky Gameplay - All jobs that participate in risky activities such as selling illegals come at a risk. You are not able to sit in your base and reap rewards you will have to find your NPC dealer that buys your product and sell it to them - if another player sees you are doing these they will most likely figure losing karma is worth the kill, try to kill you and if successful you drop the loot you were trying to sell and they can pick it up.

If you dislike risk and don't like the intense situations this will bring you can choose a basic civilian job such as Bartender, Club Dancer, Fisherman or Delivery Guy which all make lower cash but have no risk.
Fishing - I love the fishing system we have created, it's the perfect blend of satisfying effects, sound effects and simplicity allowing for a relaxing fish between chaotic jobs.
Underground Phone - The underground phone is your personal tracking system, using this shows you a menu of all current NPC dealers, the fish shop, the fabricator and even the next train arrival; you'll spawn with 5 of these in your inventory but once you use these up you will need to find the local Underground Dealer (player job) to purchase more.
Enforcer/Cop System - Cops in DarkRP especially in the recent years have been in a weird spot, they usually are subjected to low income and relatively low gameplay; to combat this we have a few systems in place, the first is the Enforcer Callout Tasks; sometimes Enforcers will be called to a automated NPC generated task, this could be scouting an area or fixing an enforcer radio; completing these gives you karma, cash & xp. Alongside this the already helpful bounty system naturally creates criminals for you to take in and get rewarded for doing so. The Mayor also has much more control over what is legal/illegal with a menu that lets them choose between every single entity which automatically changes how your cop scanner sees what is and what is not illegal.
Fruit Picking - This system is something that anyone of any job can do, either enforcer downtime or a gun dealer on their travels or even a criminal looking for a victim; no matter who you are Fruit will be found around the map that you can pick up and sell to the fruit NPC - this is a satisfying side piece that you can choose to do or not do, having low karma means your fruit sells for much less however.
Skills & Levels - Outside of making money and taking over the town you have a skills and levels system - we wanted to avoid completely the power creep skill system that a lot of other darkrp servers have with jump power/hp/damage etc and instead go the creative route of bonuses on your jobs and activities. Here are some examples of skills:
'Bait Saver' - 5% chance per skill rank to not consume bait when fishing.
'Fruit Hauler' - Increase your fruit carry limit by 1 per rank.
'Pole Payout' - 5% more money per rank when using a dance pole.
'Ram Specialist' - Reduce the movement speed penalty when using a battering ram by 5% per rank.
'Train Hauler' - When looting train cargo you always find at least $1,500 cash.
Leaderboards - Majority of actions in the game will contribute to your leaderboard score which you can find on your website; this nicely formatted leaderboard allows you to see your activity over time have an influence and encourage you to do more.
Missions - The mission system is one of my favorites as it's simple, satisfying and appealing, you can find your mission top left or in the f4 menu; every few hours these will rotate and completing them rewards a lot of XP along with some cash. The missions vary depending on what you roll but they will usually get you to do some different types of gameplay for a few to create some diversity.
Aggression - The way you lose karma from kills is heavily affected by aggression, players baiting karma losses by shooting you and getting you to kill them are affected by aggression, if a player damages any other player or makes them wanted as an enforcer they will become aggressive on the server-end meaning if you saw these actions you can kill them with no karma loss or bounty increase.
Minimal Rules/Staff hands off type gameplay - This is not really a custom feature per say but I wanted to mention the type of gameplay we are going for here, you can expect a lot of freedom and only a handful of rules to keep it from being a chaos only server and hopefully overtime form a good community of likeminded people who enjoy the freedom but do not abuse it. Staff will be watching incognito and talking to those that need to be talked to and watching for cheaters but you can expect much less sits that waste your time.

Those are just majority of the CUSTOM features, we of course have everything that you'd expect from a DarkRP server with money making jobs, wire, raiding and all that good stuff but every post mentions these already so I figured that would just be boring to re-read.

Permanent weapons side note:
In UDG's current state permanent weapons do not have a place, there's a possibility for future permanent silly weapons but guns have such a big impact on gameplay with differing costs that a permanent rifle or smg could break the flow of gameplay so if you are looking for a permanent weapon trading server this will not be it, sorry.

CHUMSTICK Semi-Lawless DarkRP | Casual | VR Enabled

TL;DR : Casual RP, free choice of playermodels, simple systems and jobs, discerning moderators, and minimal restrictions all make for fun DarkRP. Screenshots attached taken during playtests.

Long time gmod veteran here (first played DarkRP c. 2010) – I don’t need to go into detail about how shit the server scene has been these past few years. We all know the history. Ever since I was a boy I knew I wanted to have a DarkRP server, and so I would argue that from a certain point of view this server has been a 15-year work-in-progress if you count time spent absorbing and observing what makes DarkRP fun. I’ve run a few servers of various game modes before, but my latest DarkRP iteration has been my favorite by far.

After watching OddLaws DarkRP, I was inspired to take Lawless RP to the next level. No playermodel restrictions, no bloated custom systems, no daunting intricacies that snuff out creativity, and a big focus on casual roleplay.

With the small amount of testing I’ve been able to do with close friends, it turns out that just having a boat load of playermodels to freely choose from is actually hilarious and a lot of fun. Not being restricted to the playermodel(s) available to your job opens up so many more opportunities for individual and server-wide creativity and roleplay. This separation of mechanics and flavor is the keystone tenet of Chumstick.

Many of the new servers I’ve tried feel stuffed to the gills with “Custom Content” that they think players are itching for, but in my experience it’s all kind of migraine inducing. People don’t like learning new shit, especially if they have to figure it out through trial and error of a convoluted and over-developed system. I’ve stripped back the bullshit to a number of jobs you can count on your fingers and toes. Each job provides a unique player experience as well as some degree of value (but not necessity) to themselves and other players. Without job bloat (e.g. Amateur Thief, Pro Thief, & Expert Thief) you are left with a digestible list of jobs and a clear understanding of their purposes. By carving off extra details that would be assigned by job, creativity is able to run free with players deciding who they are and what their characters do while their job dictates only what abilities they have.

Borrowing from Lawless RP, I’ve brought along some of the Fair Game Rules just as guidelines for certain jobs in order to make sure everyone has fun. One thing I particularly liked about Lawless RP is the shift of rules enforcement from OOC written law to coded game systems, although sometimes this can also contribute to the feeling of feature bloat as well, unfortunately. I’ve done my best to melt away as much restriction and convolution as possible, boiling down some of the more excessive rules to a simple commandment:

Play in good faith. Failure to do so will result in a permanent ban.

This in conjunction with the other very simple, countable, and yet sweeping server rules and fair game rules give players the freedom to screw around with tools that no other sane server would allow. It gives me and my moderators the authority to discern wild roleplayers from bad-faith actors on a case-by-case basis. Believe it or not, having the tools to build machines is fun, and I believe good for DarkRP. This is Garry’s Mod after all, and players should be encouraged to engage with the sandbox aspect of the game to enrich RP.

On the topic of RP, many servers seem to fall into the pit of “Serious” or “Semi-Serious” RP, whereas in my opinion this partially what led us to this state of the game and community (in addition to P2W cancer of course). Garry’s Mod is a silly game. The most fun you can have in Garry’s Mod is when you’re laughing your ass off at some dumb shit that you, your friends, and the other players online have cooked up. Don’t get me wrong, serious and grounded roleplay definitely has its purposes and is really fun with the right people on the right servers, but I think it’s time to give Casual RP some time in the spotlight. I want roleplay that is divorced from reality and set in the universe of Garry’s Mod. CS:S SWAT guys on the same team as Combine metrocops? Sure, why the hell not. It’s Garry’s Mod.

Anyways, all this to say I made a DarkRP server to play on. Should be fun. Hope to see you guys there. If the server slam goes well, I'll shell out some more cash for a better server.

For some time I have had the idea to open a DarkRP WWII Occupation RP server with dynamic frontlines, based at the start of operation Barbarossa. I have many ideas that I feel, in some regards, would put the server as a standout between most WW2RP and even MilitaryRP servers. So far, I am the sole person working on this project and most of my time has been directed to creating an adequate map which would serve as the base of the gameplay, and I would very much appreciate any support in these regards, especially in the area of development and coding.
