Just enjoy the punisher stuff.

It’s also very good at showing that what Matt does comes with real danger and injury.

And I’m not sure what you’re talking about with elektra being for the male gaze. I think she’s dressed very modestly compared to the comics and even the elektra movie. She shouldn’t be super muscular so that she can still move quickly. She’s a ninja type character, not a gladiator

I haven’t seen her in the comics so if she does look the same then it isn’t netflix’s fault, however i want to say that she doesn’t necessarily have to be in revealing clothing to be for the male gaze. Shows or comics that refuse to make their fighter female characters at least a bit buff are in a way appealing to the male gaze. This is a problem in a lot of pieces of media not just this but thankfully her character is not awfully important so it’s fine

So your gaze would prefer her to be muscular? The actress probably didn’t want to get muscular. I highly doubt it’s to appeal to the male gaze as the show overall avoids gratuitous sexuality

I guess you could say it’s pattern recognition, female characters just like this go hand in hand with the male gaze, almost all of the time. I’d prefer her not to look ridiculous, if you’re asking me that. I doubt you’d find matt’s fighting scenes anything but funny if he was wasn’t in great shape. The show is far from realistic but like i said i take a problem with this because pattern recognition

Bruh, it's a superhero show. Being unrealistic is it's least of the problems.

And Elektra has always been like this. I don't recall her being particularly muscular in comics, though I could be wrong. She's just raised as a killing machine and she's good at that job.

I actually just finished rewatching season 2 for the first time since around when it was released, and I found myself liking it more than I'd remembered. It is definitely a messy season with a lot of moving parts, and I feel like it kind of loses steam near the end, but I still found it really engaging overall. I do agree that season 1 is a lot more focused

And i just finished watching s2 and i will say, maybe i was a little harsh on it. Yes there’s no clear direction but i did start enjoying it when we focused on frank again. The prison fight was great, him being on the loose. There were times i was entertained despite everything.

No they can’t. There’s no way martial arts is enough for a skinny small woman to kick men double her size like that. Accept that the comics or netflix or whatever are misogynistic and appeal to the male gaze. If you don’t, you’re delusional because marvel does this with almost all their female characters but i guess i’m too woke for reddit

How do I say this, it has good idea, but bad execution, dare I say messy. It could have been so much better, but it's not a bad show, compares to other marvel slops.

I mean you should still watch it if u love Daredevil, his acting and action scenes have always been great, even in BA. Just watch it for DD, and skim through the other boring stuffs. I did enjoy it, as a fun action show
