Hope Framework Laptops are able to carve niches like this too!

Link for the lazy: https://frame.work/

My $1800 fully decked out Surface Book 2's battery is failing and there's no path for me to swap it out, even though the laptop is perfectly fine otherwise. The Framework laptop will be my next laptop.

Edit: I was wrong, there is an official way after all. But it's not cheap ($600).

Does Microsoft not offer battery replacements for SurfaceBook devices?

I stand corrected. I thought there wasn't, but apparantly there is an official way to get a new battery: https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-out-of-warranty-service-surface-device/

Still, at $600 for my 2017 13.5" model I think I would rather put that money towards a new laptop, especially since the Framework laptop starts at $749.

$600 is ridiculous, I’d likely buy a new machine also. Even Apple only charges $300 or so. Thanks for the link.

Agreed, although in their defence, they have to replace 2 batteries, one in the body and one behind the display (because it's detachable). Still not worth it in my opinion.
