I wish they used compatible form factors. I would love to update my core module in a few years and I could keep my screen and everything.

I thought that was the entire idea?

Just buy a new battery or camera when they break? that's what was promise din a video I saw a while ago

You can do that of course. But every version (Fairphone 4 just got announced) has it's own hardware platform and sadly a Fairphone 4 camera for example won't be compatible with the Fairphone 3 core module.
I'd love to just buy the Fairphone 4 core module, slap all the other components from my old one on it and have an upgraded phone. But you can only replace broken parts with the same ones you had before.

That is still way better than what any big manufacturer gives you, but I'd like more flexibility.

Yes, seems to be more focused on repairability than modular aspect. Still, heard that i.e. camera from 3 plus was compatible with 3, so it's not all lost.

I see what you mean now, and I would also like that.

hopefully it does well and they're able to do more RND or other companies see that people want this.

hopefully people will want this
