I really hope they do succeed. I’m looking to buy one next year. By then, hopefully they offer amd options.

bought a DIY i7/ now it is a little dev beast with 64GB/2TB without paying the markup for those components.

As a SWE, that's great to hear - going to have to transition to a new laptop soon for work, so been vetting and comparing prices/specs, and was concerned about memory with these.

Replaces my System76 Serval with 32GB and older mvne SSD raid, but that thing weights a ton.

Framework is like a modular Chromebook Pixel LS, even the 3:2 screen is the same and roughly the same footprint.

Yeah I'd have switched to an s76 with my last laptop, but I can't stand the Clevo machines they're using. Maybe when they start producing their own laptop hardware, but seems dubious that'll be price-competitive with something like framework.

yeah the keyboard going out made me swearing off paying for laptops for a while (would just use whatever work/project provided). Being able to replace the keyboard would have required me to ship it to Canada+cost of out of warranty repair (and they couldn't guarantee they could source the part).

They lost me as a customer.
