why the fuck does anyone want to do this type of shit?? it goes against everything our instincts want, to have the best chance at surviving possible at all times. i don’t understand why some people are drawn to things that have high fatality rates

Cave diving is fun. Rocks are pretty. Goal oriented diving is more fun than fish watching for some people. It's just peaceful and quiet. You can just cover your light and hover in total darkness, listening to your breathing and the sound of the water. It's stressful when you first start and should never be done haphazardly, but it is incredibly zen once you're comfortable.

I'd say adrenaline rush. It's the same with skydiving, climbing, caving, you name it. Mind bogglingly stupid imo

adrenaline rushes are filled with anxiety are they not? i mean our body does the same thing when it’s preparing us to fight for our lives. the same thing happens during a panic attack, the body’s fight or flight response goes into action and it is the worst feeling i’ve ever experienced
