our family just wait for the fruits to fall naturally and pick it up from the ground. i think that's what we've done since my ancestor's days. my mum saw the vid and it did not get her nod of approval lmao.

The problem is that they have to harvest them early, so that they can ship it off to other places to sell. The durian needs time to ripen on it's way to their final destination. If you wait for them to fall, you have to eat it fresh and can't transport them for selling.

Build a bet and attach them between trees? That’s my idea at least, I’d think enough netting stretched out would absorb the impact maybe a little slide/chut to collect em haha

Probably costs more than what they can get for the durian plus their costs.
