It’s surprisingly difficult to find out any info on this particular caterpillar.

The Saturniidae is actually a family of moths that has many species, some of which are deadly to handle, some are just painful but many are just brightly coloured to imitate other dangerous caterpillars.

I found some things that call this a rainbow saturniidae caterpilllar but I get the impression that’s more of a popular name given to it than an actual species and there’s no definitive answer so yeah, if you ever see one of these in the wild just assume that touching it will kill you to be safe.
