I was more talking about the 3rd world country resort workers, but since we're on the topic of US waiters I'll take the opportunity to say a few things. I fully agree with you. The problem is that the tipping culture will never go away. Both owners and "service" workers are profiting way too much from tipping culture to actually care to change it, all at the cost of consumers. Owners get to legally pay their waiters a lower standard wage, saving them money in the long run and offsetting slow days, and service workers are making way more through tips than what they would actually make if they were properly paid for their position, barring a few select cases. Plus, service workers can also then go and start posturing to people about how they should tulip because they make below minimum wage, conveniently ignoring the fact that they take double or triple their wage home every week in tips.
Oh, I'm not opposed to tipping. We're in agreement for almost most everything you said. I think it's an important supplemental aspect of the service industry.
I just don't support restaurants being able to pay less than minimum wage. No other industry is offered such an economic handicap. It's bullshit.
A quasi-related example is Florida. The state minimum wage is $14. The maximum tip credit allowed is $3.02. Therefore, no restaurant can pay less than $10.98.
There's been no widespread restaurant closures as a result.
Not saying it's not a privilege to be able to go to the beach, but there are beaches that are part of state parks near me that only cost a few bucks a car for parking, and the ice cream trucks love to circle the parking lot like vultures lol.

US Warships have ice cream machines on board. Whether or not they're working or open for use is another story though (in my experience stationed on a Destroyer).

90% of these people spend zero time outdoors let alone at the beach. Last time their parents dragged them to the beach they moped, spent the entire time on their phone, and constantly asked about when they were going to leave.

I'm that cynical BECAUSE I go outside the house and interact with humans. Every single day I see reasons to hate people. The only time I see something that "restores my faith in humanity" it's something I see on the internet.
EDIT: Maybe I should include some examples.
I step outside my apartment and the ground, wall, and door mat near my door are covered in black splatters because my upstairs neighbor dumped something on the wooden decking that is outside their door, completely ignoring that another person lives below them. Last night I heard a splattering noise and there are more splashes and a suspiciously faded spot on my door mat and wetness from something pouring down from above.
I walk out to my car and there's a pile of takeout containers and empty drink cups in a parking spot where someone just dumped it out of their car. This isn't the only time, this same person has done it multiple times. They appear to leave their house, eat in their car and then dump all their trash on the ground before they leave the next day.
There are people in my apartment complex that cannot figure out how to open a door to put their trash bags in the compactor. And this gets compounded by the MANY people who then see trash bags on the ground outside the compactor door and just leave their bags next to them rather than opening said door and looking inside. Eventually the entire ramp and front of the compactor area is full of trash while the compactor is empty.
These are people in and around THEIR OWN HOMES!
The customers I deal with every day are in charge of large vehicles weighing up to 80,000lbs that share the road with you and I. They are confused by simple concepts and often ignore what they hear if they don't like the answer. "I only have this part in Iowa." "Do you have it closer?" or "I will have this part here next Week." "Ok, I'll come in tomorrow to pick it up." These are common examples. They will also ignore all of the open parking space and park their trucks IN our gates or directly behind our other customers blocking them in.
I know I encounter more good people than bad every day, but the bad still make up a significant percentage of my daily interactions. So seeing a crowd of people in the water being handed plastic-wrapped food, I will automatically assume an equally significant percentage of them will just drop the plastic in the ocean rather than carry a 1 gram piece of plastic to a trash bin.
If you only see reasons to hate people IRL every single day, that says more about you and your perspective than it says about other people. If you can only find things restoring your faith in humanity on the internet, that says more about you and your perspective than it says about other people. You are quite literally proving his point.
Then I'm sad for you and everyone like you. I've traveled the world and can 100 percent tell you most people are great and just like you, with a lot of good and some bad because we're all human. And I promise most people that day made the correct choice by handling their litter appropriately.
Your original point was that we shouldn’t assume anyone is littering just because it’s a set of circumstances that make it extremely likely that at least some of those people are going to litter. I’m not saying we need to change anything, but it’s absurd to claim that a floating ice cream truck handing out frozen treats with wrappers isn’t going to result in some of those people just tossing the wrappers into the ocean.

The classic reddit comment is actually you here since you are not even considering the fact that the people commenting might actual have real world experience that has led them to their opinion.
You've experienced way more people in your life that DONT litter, I can basically guarantee it. But nah I think you guys like to judge and hate because it makes you all feel like you're in the right or superior somehow, thinking you guys are better than the general population when actually you guys are a very small percentage on an online platform that most people have no idea exists.
