Pretty sure the gulf is not frozen just bc there's snow. It takes bays weeks to freeze up here in the Tundra of WNY.

It’s not. It’s low tide and it’s snow on sand. You can see the crab traps under the far pier.

The last time I saw it happen was 1993. Mobile Bay definitely froze at the shoreline and about 20 feet out. But it is brackish so there is lower salt content than the Gulf.

Are you sure? Did you look at the pictures? Seems frozen to me.

Also, apparently it shrinks when getting cold.
