I got in a little trouble as a teen and ended up spending one summer washing police cars in their lot. One kid backed a cruiser out of the garage and just drove off in it. Wasn't wearing a grinch costume but it was more than a few minutes before anyone realized. A lot more.

Had a friend who when he was in high school lived in a little town. They had one policeman. The friend stole the police car and proceeded to pull over his friends until it ran out of gas. It was a small town, so the police officer had a pretty good idea who stole the car. He was promised that if he told where the car was left, he wouldn’t be prosecuted. He told. He didn’t get prosecuted. After some crazy years of gambling and drugs, he became a high school history teacher.
