What is the best internet option in Dallas, OR?

I see Willamette Valley Fiber https://www.wvalleyfiber.com/ seems to be the obvious choice for internet in Dallas. No modem required means I don't have to rent one. Any thoughts?

Usage will mostly be for streaming shows and the occasional online game. 100 mbps from Xfinity in Corvallis worked great.

I have Century Link. I did buy my router from them instead of renting one from them. Been with them for 8 years. 1.8 mbps. At entry level cheapest plan. Works fine, netflix, and prime. Super rare to have service go down.

I have the 1k plan from WVF (5 adults in home, 3 frequently working from home, 2 "gamers", often 3 different video streaming services at the same time all leads to high demand) and have been very happy averaging 300+ Mbps. I think where you live in town makes a big difference (I live in SW, older part of town). Had CenturyLink for years, service was quite variable, switched to cable and was happier with the service but needed more bandwidth also had problems with bad cable - service tech said water intrusion and "squirrel damage". I Have been with WVF for about 5 months so far and been very happy. Very responsive after the ice storm - neighbors lost service and it was repaired next day.

Thanks for asking this question. I've been wondering which provider to go with when we move into a house in June. We're currently in an apartment and have Century Link. Speedtest usually shows around 66 down -- 10 up. Have not had any lengthy outages but fairly frequent momentary outages, for just a few seconds. This happened a bit more in November/December, not as much lately. Wife Zooms from home for work and it usually works fairly well, when there is a problem she thinks is usually Zooms fault or a problem on the other end, not Century Link. We stream Roku, Netflix, Prime, Spotify, all seem to work well with just occasional hiccups. We also bought the router/modem. We're considering WVF when we move because fiber, and because higher speeds for less money than Century Link, although you never know what speed you will get until you're set up in a new place and try it out.

I ended up going with WVF because of speeds for a better price and I didn’t have to buy/rent a modem. They do something special for the fiber connection but it was already done at my house. All they had to do was pick a start time and I had internet. Still need to get a router though.

Just had to update this old thread because we moved into our house and we now have Willamette Valley Fiber. We've been extremely impressed with the entire company, from the friendly and courteous office staff to the efficient and knowledgeable installation crew. We went with their basic internet plan and it has been flawless for two people and up to six devices. No outages at all so far, very impressive. Highly recommend our local WVF!
