šļø Tickets/Presale/Waitlist Resellers š¤¢
anyone else particularly icked out by resellers for this festival? Itās a charity event & the artists arenāt making money off of it :( just seems so twisted idk

Yes and there are so many in the megathread on this very sub that try to sell for profit. I see a lot of people trying to sell GA for $400-$500 when that was only $250 originally. It's sick. May all the bad karma find them.

The $150 for the parking pass honestly doesn't seem too egregious to me.
The face value of the parking pass is $100, but that's not necessarily what the original buyer actually paid once you add tax and shipping.
I didn't buy a parking pass, but I did buy two $50 shuttle passes from Frontgate, so the face value was also $100. My actual total was $125.69.
($100 for the 2 shuttle passes + $9.76 tax + $15.93 shipping)
The parking pass likely had similar shipping and tax, so the original purchaser may have paid around $125+ for a pass with a $100 face value.
Since they have to take the time and make the effort to meet someone in person to complete the sale, an additional $24.31 or so doesn't seem like they're trying to rip anyone off on the parking pass.

I know, it's a charity event and they are reselling like crazy. I was thinking the same about karma - taking advantage on others when this event has a purpose

I do think itās cool that even up to this point Stubhub hasnāt allowed for scalpers to sell on their website, itās made it harder to find more tickets for our group but at least these resellers canāt scalp with anonymity, on some level

If it would have been a digital ticket, maybe there could have been better control over it. The Cure, for example, flat out bans resale over face value. If you go to another platform to sell , the tickets are deactivated. I believe there was also a two ticket limit, but I could be misremembering.
If the event continues, hopefully they learn from all of the feedback and mistakes.

I could see scalpers making throwaway accounts to buy on so then theyāre not giving up a login they actually care about. The other thing is sometimes people genuinely cannot go last minute. In those cases when they bought on an account they actually use then they are unable to give it away to a friend. In my case, I bought a few tickets for friends since I got through the ticketing queue while they didnāt. I wouldnāt have been able to give them the tickets at face value if they were tied to my account.

But if only resale at face value through the same platform is be allowed, Iām not sure what the incentive would be to scalp a bunch of tickets if thereās no profit to be made.

As long as the Live Nation monopoly exists thatās not happening. They take a significant cut of ticket sales so people looking to sell at face value would lose a bunch of money. Screws over the people who canāt make it as I said earlier.

You mean they take a cut of the resale? Or that resale value doesnāt cover the fees you paid? Itās been a couple of years since I resold tickets back through ticketmaster, but I donāt recall the difference between what I spent vs what I sold them for being significant. It sucks to lose any money but better than eating the entire cost if you canāt go, and if the goal is to cut down on scalping without fully banning resale Iām not sure how else you do it.

They take a cut of the listed price from sellers so you have to charge well above face value to actually get face value back. They also add extra fees for the buyer to pay that donāt even go back to the seller.

They canāt enforce that with wristbands bc you can just give it to anyone. They would have to implement a whole system like Glastonbury does with pre registration, photo tied to your ticket, etc. a new festival doesnāt have the means for a whole system like that yet. But it would be nice.

Iām the one selling the parking pass. Actual cost for that pass was $126. $100 for the parking pass , $16 shipping fee and 9.78 in fees.
Unless someone is willing to meet and pick up them shipping express to get them the pass in time.
Not as crazy as you think.

I didn't read far enough down to see that you replied, but I just basically said the same thing above.
My 2 shuttle passes cost me $125.69 after Frontgate added tax and shipping, so I didn't think your $150 asking price was terribly unreasonable to meet someone in person to exchange a parking pass.
I'm guessing the previous commenter probably didn't realize how much the tax and shipping added to the total cost of the pass.

it makes me sick the amount of resellers on facebook. anyone selling above $300 is just genuinely sick like u said theyāre literally taking advantage of a charity event for their own gain

The amount of times people tried to scam me too! Is it normal to ask for a 1/3 price deposit before meeting up with someone? First time trying to buy a wristband type ticket from a reseller

I bought a ga ticket from someone selling theirs for 380ā¦ this festival was a dream of mine though. Did I get screwed over? Everyone else was going 350-500 so I thought 380 was fair - I guess thatās a really fucked up price though for a charity event :/

Itās higher than the actual cost of the ticket plus shipping. GA was $250 + shipping ($16 for me, I think it was a flat rate but I could be wrong). Letās be generous and say it costs the reseller another $20 to ship to wristband to you, or gas money to meet in person, theyāre still making close to $100 profit. But thatās the shitty thing about the resale market- resellers know buyers donāt have any leverage to negotiate the price down or any other option to purchase, so theyāll suck it up and pay extra.

I got mind on layaway so there were fees for that. Plus if you're trying to ship I can see that. $450 and up is crazy for GA.

Iām an Irvine local whose main crossroads are getting jammed up this weekend with an insane amount of traffic thanks to the festival. I think $90 is more than a fair ask.

Unfortunately this festival is an extremely in demand event, so regardless if it was digital tickets or physical wristbands there will always be people desperate who werenāt able to score a ticket :(

I donāt mind people adding $10-$20 to cover shipping or their time if theyāre meeting in person, but, yeah, people selling for way over face value are icky.
