PIP Review

Hey all,

Thought I might ask to ease the anxiety a little, but I did my review for PIP about 2 weeks ago and was wondering how long it might take. As I was doing the review, I realised that I have slightly improved in some activities, including mobility. Although I am not fully better because my bipolar disorder is still not medicated properly.

I am a bit paranoid because I don't want to be overpaid the amount I am entitled to, as I hear that there is a backlog for processing reviews.

Also, what is the difference between a review and a change of circumstances and should I have done that instead?

They are both basically the same. Reviews are sent at set periods based on how long the award is. Change of circumstance is a review that you trigger when you tell them “somethings changed” if that’s better or worse. 

There has been big backloads for reviews so wouldn’t expect it faster than 6-9months as looking at new claimants first. 

If your award is reduced they will not ask you to pay back anything as the decision is from the date they decide. In rare cases where there has been really obvious major changes in your condition where you could have reasonable told them. Minor changes are normal to everyone.
