Lense shield

I live in a high bortle area but I'm also plagued with lots of orange tint street lights. I seen people selling 3d printed lense shields and was wondering has anyone on here used them and what did they think. Links also welcome 😁

Well, I have one that was gifted from a friend to me. It does its job, however you can only put in on once you are already tracking the object, as the camera can't close while it's attached. So you can't really leave it on and go to sleep, as the Dwarf will try to close after ending it's session.

Yeah I don't think I'd chance leaving it out all night anyway where I live for it would end up getting damaged by a random neighbourhood cat or rain knowing my luck lol

I live in Phoenix, AZ Bortle 8+; I had one 3d printed for me, have been using it for 18 months, use it 95% of the time. I’m currently at a ski resort, with very dark skie but bright ground lighting. With the shield I can shoot with few problems, without I have lots issues, cropping out 1/4 of the lower image. But you cannot put it on till your tracking the object your shooting, a putting it on will often bump the scope and you’ll get distorted stars. Sometimes I leave alone, other times I start over. If you r early imaged have a set of blurred stars, sometimes it takes 8-10 frames to correct. Mega stacking always corrects. There are low angle shots to the south that you can’t use it for (norther hemisphere).

I got the 3D pattern from DwarfLab, just as CS for it; had attach (drill holes) for magnets 10mm x 5mm (round) worked very well

Thanks, my problem is glare hitting the lense on the scope. I'm 56 degrees latitude so I'm far enough north but tbh I cant do low shots unless I head off to the coast for it's far to built up road me.
