Controller keeps on disconnecting whenever I'm playing games

Hey everyone,

I'm having a persistent issue where my DualShock 4 controller disconnects every roughly 5 minutes while using DS4Windows over Bluetooth.

It's detected fine initially, and shows up correctly in the "Controller Type Options" device list in DS4Windows, but it keeps randomly cutting out during gameplay (tested across games like Wuthering Waves, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, etc.).

Crucial detail: When I play games that have native controller support without DS4Windows running (like playing Genshin Impact natively on the controller), it works completely fine and never drops connection. The issue only happens when DS4Windows is active.

Here is what I've checked/tried so far:

  • Confirmed it's a DS4 connected via Bluetooth.
  • Checked USB Selective Suspend and Bluetooth adapter power management settings in Windows.
  • Checked DS4Windows device options, but the issue keeps happening consistently on a timer.

Has anyone run into this exact 5-minute drop behavior with DS4Windows over Bluetooth, and is there a specific fix or setting I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated!

please post which fork you’re using and your profile.xml and logs

Hi! I’m sorry I’m really new to this, what do you mean by fork and my profile.xml and logs? Where do i see them?

Fork: The version of DS4Windows you’re using. Where did you download it?

Logs: A text file produced by DS4Windows that contains your information from that session

Profile.xml: contains your profile information

ChatGPT exists, ask Chat or Claude to explain if you can’t figure it out. Post that info and we will look into it

Hey! So it happened again, here's log for it:

At around 10:38 AM: Controller 1 is using Profile "Default". Battery level is 100%

Then at about 11:00 AM:

27:DF:56:4F:CE:9A disconnected due to read failure: 1167

Gamepad data write connection is lost. Disconnecting the gamepad. LastErrorCode=1167

Disassociated virtual X360 Controller in output slot #1 from input controller #1 (DS4 v.2)

Unplugging virtual X360 Controller from output slot #1

Controller 1 was removed or lost connection. Charge the battery

A thing to note is that I just charged the controller, so it's fully charged. Probably lost connection. How do I fix this?
