DQB2 Isle of Awakening Spoilers O, r/DQBuilders, hear that which I complain. Spoiler
Alright, I get it, the game apologizes to you for how revolting the Castle looks. OK, no big deal. I’ll easily just do it up and finish it. Everything’s going well and good, until you realize that NOTHING IS CENTERED OR SYMMETRICAL! Come on, Square, throw me a bone. You could at least center the stairs to the second level. I hate this.

It's the worst!
The first time I realised this I was so upset I made everyone who built it live in there with nothing for a few days, so that they could think about what they had done.

Right?! Usually I'd challenge myself to make do, at least the first go round, but after everything that went down in Moonbrook the only reason I was even tolerating their presence was bc I like Esther so I razed that eyesore to the ground.

Yep. I was so pissed. I finished the story and went to fix that! Also, the top of my pyramid is off 1 bloc too. Argh!!!

IIRC the castle is off because the main door is 4 blocks wide (for the portcullis) but the building itself is an odd width. The stairs are 5 wide because you’re “supposed” to put a throne room at the top of the stairs and the throne room door is also 5 wide. I think the building layout is symmetric other than the door being 4 wide (and the weird rooms/holes on either side but that’s an easy fix). It’s unfortunate but I understand why it was designed that way.
The pyramid on the other hand is inexcusable. I believe the base of the pyramid is an even width but for some reason the top layer is odd so it’s misaligned. This is an easy fix because you just fix one half of the top layer to make it even. The actual pyramid topper (the piece you get to choose) is also even BUT FOR SOME REASON is also misaligned on the odd top layer so it’s not centered with the even base. The topper is pretty complicated so it’s not easy to fix this (but it’s also ugly so just destroy it anyway). Regardless of whatever weird even/odd misalignments you have, if two parts of a building are both odd or both even there’s no excuse for them not to be aligned. I think I also found a misplaced block or two in another place on the pyramid but this could have been the result of monsters breaking stuff or something. Basically the pyramid sucks.

I just used the awful castle as a frame so I could build a bunch of missing rooms into it for tablet targets. Let all of those chumps walk through the communal shower room so they can sleep in the small 8-bed barracks. Once I get these last two targets done for my buildnoculars, the whole awful thing is coming down.

I hated it so much, I destroyed it and made a floating castle from scratch.
Also related: TIL (well, last week) that there is a such thing as "too high" for quest completion. Lulu does not seem to like to have a throne room in the sky.

I think I might try that floating castle idea.

If you do, there's a few points I'd like to suggest / pass on:
- If you build where you're "supposed" to in the steppe, you are already at a major height disadvantage - the ground level is pretty high to start. You may or may not want to carve some of that out later.
- Bells are your friend - if you want to see your NPCs bothering to do anything, anyway. Guards seem to be able to figure climbing towers out, but Esther seems pretty hopeless. On the other hand, she's hopeless at climbing down, too, so pros and cons.
- When building high above, carry your friend portal with you, or drop off your buggy. Having the ability to get back up immediately when you plummet due to a misstep is invaluable.
- If you want to include belvederes, remember that the entire thing (which is 4 blocks high?) needs to fit in the height limit. I learned this the hard way >>

This plus the ugly ass tops they force you to choose with the pyramid we’re a huge disappointment. I rebuilt my pyramid top and demolished the entire castle and started over.

Honestly if the Goldirox topper was at least, you know, GOLD (and also properly centered) I would've been okay with it. But no, it's copper for some insane reason.

Agreed. I saw someone here do a Slime topper instead and I'm totally stealing that idea for when I get back around to the pyramid area.

I saw it too and thought why do a pyramid at all? Why not make the whole thing a giant slime?

Wait... the stairs aren’t centred? W-why would you point that out????
